I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this idea, but I'm just guessing. Here is my idea: Some of us have characters we don't want to play any more. Rather that kill them off or just make them disappear you can put them up for adoption! What do you guys think?

Doesn't work.  Any characters that anyone plays worth its time people want to keep.

And anyone can play an NPC, so it's not exactly like NPCs die off...

I disagree. For example, I have no plans to bring back The Master Elan, but maybe somebody else would like to play him. He's a character I'd consider putting up for adoption. I'm not going to play him, so why shouldn't I let someone else play him who wants to?

I like the idea. Might be worth considering for some of the characters I'd like to see back but can't find the time to pay the attention they deserve. Having someone else give their interpretation of a character might be interesting too, maybe even open up for some new possibilities.

Maybe it could even help improve plots. Could be that having someone else play the nemesis of your character (or whatever it is) would make it more dynamic. Many of my characters have nemesi bothering them once in a while, and I've always played both sides, and it's sort of... unsatisfactory and restricting, to always know both sides. It always gets railroaded. That, and I'm terrible at playing evil characters.

I don't know which characters I'd put up for adoption, but I'll certainly consider my options

It may also be useful when people are leaving the boards. I can see how Wu's point about wanting to keep worthwhile characters, but people who are leaving won't be using the characters, even if they are worth the time. I'm sure you know how annoying it is when players drop off the face of the planet right in the middle of a plot (I've been guilty for that myself, and it wasmy plot) - sometimes it's not their fault, but at least giving them the option to pass up their creations for adoption sounds like a good idea for me.

alright here is how I think this should work: I will start a thread in the town. people will PM me with a quick bio of their character and I will put it in the first post of the thread. People will post their saying witch character they want and I will give it to them. Sound good?

IMO, I think it should work more like the Avatar Adoption Center over at GiantITP. People who want to put characters up for adoption can post it themselves in the thread, and then, if a person want's to adopt them, they can send a PM to the owner of the character, so that they can give a more advanced description.

I know people have different ways of describing their characters, so if the person who wants to adopt PMs the person who's character it is, then they can give a description in the preferred format of the other person. If you get what I'm saying.

Also, if there is a thread for adoption (bear in mind, this hasn't been given the go ahead by the mods here yet), it should probably go in the character directory rather then the Town itself.

Alright, I think I like your better Bealec. So If you post your character it should be like this:

Name

Eye color

hair color

Description

power level

Back story

Or it could just be up to the player how they format it; it's always worked for me.
