There is only one thing that makes me sad about used games... When the cutscenes come up and there is suddenly that disk-read error up in the corner... Now, normally I could just skip them but... Then again... This is MGS2... Half the plot IS the cutscenes.

I should go get this disk resurfaced and hope for the best I guess. Fun game but I can't see why people say it's so confuzing though.

What is anyone's opinion on Freeroamers/sandbox games? I quite like them... But not many others seem to.

Meh. I really don't get the hype over this game; it's a glorified Sim City-type thing. Really, I'd rather play Civilization/Alpha Centauri.

I would much rather that it be Dawn of War Two or Starcraft Two, anyways.  Laughing

Yea! You understand now. Making monster is fun. Then training those monsters to eliminate all competition.

You're making it sound like Pokemon, which, when you compare the two game concepts, it isn't.

Actually, keep making it sound like that; From what I know, Wukei likes Pokemon, so, who knows? Maybe she'll give it a shot and her opinion will change.

At any rate, I'd love to get Spore the minute I can. Finally, a game designer who isn't a complete idiot.

The game designer wasn't an idiot cuz he realized how much he could make from making a game that would sell.  You'll get bored with it within a week, I'm sure.

Alright, I'm just going to speak as an honest-to-whatever-gods-exist video gamer. I've seen this a thousand times; Some suit decides what to put in a game because it'll be profitable; Play it up through advertising, make it sound really, REALLY good, and then turn around and say 'Nope! Ha-ha, got yer cash! Sucker!' But, despite past experiences like this, I really think Spore will live up to the hype. Judging by all the gameplay demos I've seen, and the fact that most of the games Will Wright supposedly used as inspiration in making Spore happen to be games that I found rather entertaining, I suspect Spore will be one of those rare few gems that'll be worth playing for more than just that one week.

I've never played Spore, but expectations were high for GTA IV and that turned into a massive, steaming pile of dogshit... No offence intended to anyone...

So, after getting one race in Spore to the Space phase and 2 more in the Creature/Tribal phases, I can say that while it's not quite up to scratch with the hype, it's still pretty damn good.

Although the Cell/Creature/Tribal/Civilization phases are way too short. Although if they just lengthened them by 50-100% then they'd get boring so they would need to mix things up a bit. However, for their length, they are satisfactory. Cell is addicting, Creature is cool, Tribal and Civilization can be infuriating but otherwise are nice, and the sheer size of Space amazes me. Even if it's only one Galaxy, that's gotta be several hundred (probably more like thousand) stars, each with multiple planets.

Actually, the pre-Space phases would probably be fine if they weren't all advertised equally. It seems that pre-release they gave each phase equal attention as if they all took many hours to complete, which is not the case, I managed to get to the Space phase in one day, on Hard. Space is obviously infinitely longer and more complex than the previous 4, which is not inherently bad, but they made it sound like all of the phases were equal in terms of time taken to complete.

I give it a 8/10 and would recommend it to others.

Spore was anticipated before GTA 4 was even concieved.

Violent. I wanted to be a nice carnivore but it didn't turn out so well.  Sad

Not that I know of, though if you ally other races it's possible to have a little fleet following you around.

Curses. So much for the Grand Armada of the High Lord-Militant.

Once you get the upgraded weapons you don't need them anyways.

Instead of having a Grand Armada of the High Lord-Militant you get the Planet Crushing Doom Engine of the High Lord-Militant. And you get it with a side of lasers, nukes and a plasma cannon. You then proceed to idly swat enemy spacecraft from the sky whilst dropping a few kilotons worth of flaming death on all their cities.

Starcraft II was recently revealed to be a trilogy, of sorts.

Each of the campaigns will be packaged and sold separately, but each will be approximately the size of all of SC1's campaigns put together, possibly plus Brood War.

So we're looking at 1 campaign with somewhere between 30 and 50 missions, plus the new StarEdit, plus full multiplayer, plus a bonus mini-campaign in the first release of SCII. Then two more expansion packs with 2 more campaigns of a similar length with different gameplay elements with the possibility of extra goodies too. Although maybe I shouldn't say expansion packs, Blizzard has yet to state any kind of price, although they say they, internally, will treat each "segment" as a game in it's own right, which is understandable, but somewhat annoying. Oh yeah, the initial release will be the Terran campaign, subtitled Terrans: Wings of Liberty, and the other 2 releases will be staggered.

I, personally, am slightly annoyed but will end up getting SCII anyway. I'll get the Terran one, of course, as I can't wait to get my claws on the editor. Oh yeah, and the 30+ hours of singleplayer too.  I will DEFINITELY pick up the Zerg campaign and most likely the Protoss one as well when they are respectively released.

Thoughts?

I don't mind it. If they want to sell me three campaigns that's fine with me, I don't do much multiplayer anyways. Might skip the zerg campaign, but probably not. Blizzard is good at storylines, even if I'm horrible at playing zerg.

I'd probably just go for the Zerg one.
Maybe the Protoss if I have spare moneys.
