Nevr, it definitely is a different setting. So far, these are the differences...
1) No magic (huge difference- death is permanent, plague is a horror, mangled limbs are not curable, no instant travel...)
2) Sexism and Racism (never appears in Town, and if it does, the person is generally regarded as dumb)
3) Possibly Feudal style
4) No modern/future influences (like Regiji or Catherine, or people with guns)
5) No obvious religious and spiritual entities. (Religion actually becomes an ideal rather than "I worship that guy who lives down the street." It's something huge and important again).
Realism and verisimilitude separate this from Town. It's deserving of its own forum.
The main reason I want this is to allow a chance for fantasy/medieval RPing without magic. As I've said, and Vael has pointed out also, magic radically alters anything it's introduced to. The difference between a world with magic and a world without really is huge.
Plus, as Vael pointed out, the existing Town is not strictly medieval, it's a blend between fantasy, modern-ish technology, and sci-fi. So there isn't even an existing medieval Town with magic to go to.
And you may not think it's enough hooplah, but a good amount of people have expressed some interest in it, so some people do.
I seem to be the only one, but I personally think we should keep all the non-human races. They provide more options, and then you can have all those interesting species-based tensions between humans and non-humans.
And honestly I don't see how short humans and ones with pointy ears are incredibly fantastical. I hate to admit it, but I suppose lizardmen are the most fantasy-like. Still, they've been in other non-magical settings, like sci-fi.
Just thought I'd put in my two cents. _________________ "You too will come to understand fear, as I have."

I think we should just stick with different races. Making pygmies and deformed humans with pointed ears and whatnot...it just seems unneccessary. People like fantasy races, so we'll probably end up with a lot of deformed or midgit or oddly coloured with wings humans, so why not just let the fantasy races stay, instead of trying to justify it with genetic problems or tribes or whatever? _________________ -Ekrath, as done by Orange Zergling
