Assuming that the rest of the party is following up the rope ladder, then Delgar takes a look around the wall. He finds that the octagonal room leads into a corridor going south, and to the north of this corridor is a yawning pit. A yawning pit opens in the floor here, and if anyone were to walk closer towards it, they'd find that in it is the body of a young female in a light chain shirt. She has auburn hair and fine features, her ears suggesting elf heritage but her height and build suggesting human ancestry as well. Her equipment indicates she was an explorer of some sort.
Delgar or any other party member may be closer to the pit than this map depicts.
Kerri follows behind Delgar, letting him lead the way... in case of traps. After a brief glance into the pit she looks around carefully I wonder how she ended up down there... seems unlikely that she should just fall in
Novia follows the others and is surprised to see someone possibly alive down in the pit. "My gods. She might still be alive. Do we have any rope left?" She'd have jumped down, but 30ft was awful far. Hopefully there is some rope left. This trip has used up an awful lot of rope. _________________ A single dagger in the night is worth a thousand swords at dawn.

Two bits of rope have been used - one in the previous room and one way back in that other crevasse room with the bridge and the corpses of the old party members.
On the other hand, everyone in the group brought rope with them. So there should be at least 3 spools of the stuff in people's backpacks. We can assume that one of them is Delgar's. _________________ The Chilli God Has Spoken. Characters & Art
The rope will need to be secured by or against something before Novia can climb down it, unless she wants to climb down the wall of the pit itself.
Since there's nothing nearby that the rope can be secured against, the best solution would be to have the rest of the party hold the rope as she descends. So unless anyone has objections to getting possible friction burn from the rope, this is what is assumed to happen, and Novia safely makes it to the bottom of the pit, where she notices that the half-elf is, in fact, still breathing. _________________ The Chilli God Has Spoken. Kerri helps hold the rope. She doesn't really have much else to do, and she's much better at things requiring strength than those requiring keen senses _________________ Character Descriptions | deviantArt
Normal ways to try and get a person to wake up don't seem to work this time.
Novia has already casted her one prepared Cure Light Wounds today. Use a charge from her wand instead? _________________ The Chilli God Has Spoken. Characters & Art
The healing power from a charge of Novia's wand is able to renew enough of the damage from the half-elf's wounds that she wakes up with a gasp [7 Healed].
"Ah! I -- Oh, by the gods, I'm alive?" She turns her head to look at Novia while trying to hold herself together from this obvious near-death experience. Even so, a sly smile escapes her face. "I guess he was right about being... Being followed. Luckily for me." _________________ The Chilli God Has Spoken. Characters & Art
The druidess grins, seeing the half-elf was conscious again, but her expression changes to a worried frown. "Who was right? Is there someone else down here with you?" _________________ A single dagger in the night is worth a thousand swords at dawn.

Novia finds that the half-elf is willing to volunteer quite a lot of information about the tomb-robber party they're chasing.
"Yeah, there is. A man named Xeron led our tomb-robbing party down here; he was the one I was referring to, sorry. A hobgoblin priest of Hextor also has some clout. Xeron's looking for something deeper in the catacombs, and only his personal magnetism has kept the tomb robbers from escaping with the treasure they've found already. He thought someone was bound to be pursuing him by now.
"The hobgoblin cleric—Krootad, they call him—elected to stay behind and take care of the pursuit. You must have already run across him.
"I think the remaining tomb robbers are nothing more than servants and hirelings, though most seem reasonably loyal to Xeron. Supposing nobody fell in the next room, he still has Teryl, - an associate of mine - a few more varags, three hobgoblin warriors, a halfling male I think is a sorcerer, and a nasty goblin female. We left a several goblinoids and undead behind us, as well as some of Xeron's twisted pets. Many members of our band have died in the run through this place."
This fits in with what the party's encountered so far in this dungeon, as well as the insinuations of tomb robbers that were made when the party was told about the recent events by the townspeople back at Kingsholm. _________________ The Chilli God Has Spoken. Characters & Art
Kerri sulks a little as she listens, but remains quiet. Didn't look like she'd get to practice any torturing on this one, the way the half-elf spills all that information so freely. _________________ Character Descriptions | deviantArt
The half-elf nods. "I'm not even sure they've realized that I fell down here, though Xeron wouldn't care anyway. After the machines attacked, everything turned into chaos pretty quickly." _________________ The Chilli God Has Spoken. Characters & Art
The half-elf nods. "Yeah. Xeron led us around the corner to the east, and Teryl found a pit that we all avoided as we went into a wide room beyond. There, we saw two metal statues. There was also a complicated puzzle lock — one that Xeron had considerable trouble unraveling. He got angry and ordered the tomb robbers to smash the platform that contained the lock and break through the door to the north.
"Unfortunately, when we smashed the puzzle, the chests of the statues spit out small automatons that attacked, and the statues' mouths spewed out smoky creatures that distracted and nipped at us. Three of us, including Teryl and I, fought back while Xeron and the others smashed through the door and escaped. When I saw that happen, I ducked back around the corner and fled ... right into this pit. I don't remember anything from that point until just now."
The half-elf groans and adjusts herself. "Oh. my name's Leera, by the way." _________________ The Chilli God Has Spoken. Characters & Art
'lright, let's get her 'ut 'f the pit. No sense leaving her down there when she knows what we're going to be facing already. Always practical, Delgar is. _________________ Avatar by Vael
