I thought we started with all attributes at 8? If we are allowed to just take 'm out, then what's the point in stating a base? That would just make it "all attributes start at 0, you get 65 points to distribute". For as far as I understand, only mutations and  backgrounds (and later when they get inserted: perks) are able to lower ones attribute stats

Phillip is a former Black Hand operative, and he's used to needing to lie, bribe, and threaten people to get what he wants. Personality-wise, he's a self-serving jackass, but he'll keep whoever he's working with alive if he deems them useful.

Edited Intelligence and Common Sense, lost track of attribute points somewhere and allocated 3 extra points.

Uh, shouldn't the total bonus be +5 on the Interaction?  And what is it with you and these last names?  Rock, Stone, what's next, Boulder?

Brux Camberton comes from one of those small "Motor Mekka's" that basicly live on the merchants that travel between them and the Wasteland tribes, trading gears and equipment for food, water and clothing. Brux himself never was very handy with putting things together, but he just loves taking them apart. Including the towns rigs. Something which did not fall well with the other locals...

Edit: sorry, I copied blackouts post and edited the stuff, forgot to take that line out.

And indeed, he isn't made for hand to hand combat. But then again, he was never trained to be so either. Cars are his thing, not gang wars.

That guy is gonna get blown out of the water until we get a vehicle.  Also, you say you went with Black Hand, but the character says Holy Order.  Which one?

For one, all of your Attributes are not only really low, but you spent a whole crapload of skill points. More than 25. Re-read, and Bookboy will walk you through it.

Ehm... Perhaps your not one the same page with us...
http://enupnion.myfastforum.org/ftopic996-0-asc-0.php

Third post, about half way you will find character creation rules
Also, it might help to copy the char of anoter one of us and edit it.

For a summary:

Atributes:

all characters start with 8 points in muscle, agility, intelligence and charisma an commons sense. Backgrounds (which can also be found in above mentioned post) give a few minor changes to these scores.

Tribal: +2 common sense, -2 charisma
Bandit: +1 agility, -1 intelligence
Militia training: +1 agility, -1 common sense
Traveling merchant: +2 charisma, -2 agility
Escaped Gladiator: +2 agility & muscle, -2 Intelligence & Common Sense
Holy Order Initiate: +2 Intelligence & Agility, -2 Cahrisma & Common Sense
Black Hand Operative:  +2 Charisma & +1 to Agility, -3 Common Sense

Above the 8 base points and your background, you stack up to 20 points , devided over the 5 attributes

Example: An Escaped Gladiator could have a Agility of
8 base +2 background bonus +6 points = Agility 16
He would then have 20-6=14 points left to divide over muscle, intelligence, common sense and charisma

Skills:
there are 22 skills devided over 5 categories. You have 25 skill points to divide
A skills bonus is made up by the number of skill points you put into it + a bonus from the attribute that is linked to it.
The bonus an attribute provides is its rank/4 rounded down. For example, the gladiator mentioned above has agility 16. 16/4=4 so he gets an attribute bonus to weapon and driving skills equal to 4

Weapons is a skill category. In this category there are four skills: Ballistic weapons, Energy weapons, Heavy weapons and Personal weapons. The gladiator loves his Balistics so he decides to put in 5 points into it. He also finds personal weapons handy since he will have to walk from time to time (at level 1, you simply don't have the money to buy a vehicle yet) so he puts 3 skill points in that. Energy and heavy weapons are alien to him so he doesn't put ranks in them.

This gives him the following statistics for the Weapon skill category:
Personal weapons: 3 points +4 for his high agility = 7 total
Balistic weapons: 5 points +4 for his high agility = 9 total
Energy weapons: 0 points +4 for his high agility = 4 total
Heavy weapons: 0 points +4 for his high agility = 4 total

He has now 3+5=8 skill points spent. He started with 25 skillpoints so he now has 25-8=17 skill points left to put into the other skills he likes.

Alright, since we still need a DM for Group 4, I'ma make a little deal with any wannabe DMs out there;

Anyone who becomes a DM for Dustworld playtesting will get their home-made adventure added as part of an official pre-made adventure kit that will ship with the game.

If that player list on the first page is up to date, I'd like to see if I could squeeze in on Group 4. I've got a character in the works and you can expect to see it relatively soon. Also, with the DM's permission, whoever it turns out to be, I'd like to try and push the system a little bit, see how it handles things like a really high Charisma. Also, I want to see how good Charisma really is and can be.

Alrighty, here he is, without the serious deficiencies and some extra stuff, since he can carry it now.

Name: Gunter
Background: Holy Order Initiate
PD: 20

Muscle: 8
INT: 20
Agility: 20
Common Sense: 6

Heavy: 1 (6)

Driving (total bonus)
Dodge: 2 (7)
Runner: 2 (7)
Rig: 1 (6)
Big Rig: 1 (6)
Tank: 1 (6)

Survival (total bonus)
Scavenging: 2 (3)
Hunting: 1 (2)
Cooking: 1 (2)
First Aid: 0 (1)
Perception: 2 (3)

Mechanics (total bonus)
Modification: 2 (7)
Repair: 2 (7)
Identification: 2 (7)
Computer Use: 2 (7)

Interaction (total bonus)
Haggle: 0 (1)

Intimidate: 0 (1)
Bluff: 0 (1)

Equipment
Weapons:
2 Combat Pistols
10 clips
Class 1 Vehicle Kit
Class 2 First Aid Kit
Class 2 Hunting Kit
Class 2 Field Cooking Kit
Class 2 Armor Repair Kit
Flak Jacket
Clothes! (can't forget those)

Misc. Schematics Maybe?

12 slips 70 coins remaining.

Gunter is thin, pale, and almost sickly. He stutters when he speaks and comes across as entirely pathetic. But behind this frail exterior is a brilliant mind for mechanics and machinery. He knows a bit about everything, except people. He can fix nearly everything too. A devout follower of the Holy Order of the Divine Machine, he is constantly on the search for interesting and undiscovered technology.

Oookay. First off, Life isn't always fair. Occasionally there will be times that it would be better to run instead of fight.... This will not happen often but remember, there are those who are stronger than you. It is just in my style of GMing to occasionally remind the players that they arn't the Big Bad Awesome Guys of blueberry hill.

Second. I will do all initiative checks. This just cuts down the time for when a battle starts. I mean.. Just think.. A new post and then just three or four spam posts of just a number. As for actions and other such things, you may roll those if you wish. But again, I just want to help streamline the process. If you have anything you want to add or have done otherwise, I am open to all suggestions. Yes, I will even let you roll your own initiative if you wish it but I was just starting off the way I normally do... Though not always with such an impossible encounter.

Remember.. You don't always need to kill things.. There are other ways to get around issues.

But yes, any ideas, questions or constructive critisisms are nice and indeed wanted. I want this to fit how everyone likes to play the best I can.

1:  Wait, we aren't?

2:  I wasn't complaining.  I didn't think we rolled initiative until some idiot started shooting.  If you have already rolled init, then my complaint would be that you didn't include the order in your post.

3:  Still, a minigun?  There are easier ways to screw us if we fight them.  The rig was enough.

Well, I for one agree with the DM on the matter of the excessive use of force here. Personally, I'd rather have a clear line between a balanced fight and an impossible encounter. If they were using just combat pistols, we might have been stupid enough to get the bright idea of trying to shoot our way out of here only to discover we were actually big time outnumbered to begin with and never stood a chance. Now that we are facing machineguns and a spinning barrel, we at least know for sure that such an action will kill us and therefore will not try to and so avoid ending up dead.

What did bother me was that we did not get a chance to do anything... at all... For example, we were sitting next to the window. We would have heard the sound of approaching vehicles or at least the explosion from the workshop. I for one would have seen that as my cue to jump up and run for the kitchen in order to make it out through the back door. Now I probably wouldn't have made it all the way out before the rig crashed into the window (did I mention we were sitting next to one of those? ), but I would most likely have made it to the kitchens door, which should be enough to clear the last few yards while the gangleader begins his speech.

In this case, I aint going to make a big deal out of it since it is one hell of an opening act, but do be careful not to do this kind of railroading to often.

1. No, sorry, not yet. Possibly the big bads of the sandbox but not much yet...

2. The order will be implemented as soon as I finish this post. That I forgot about.. But you all may post in any order you want. It will be played out as best it can be... And the guys got a surprise round anyway.... But yes, that shall be up quickly

3. Apparently it has more than just an in game intimidation factor.. I shall remember that...

But if you really want to whine about it.. Try taking a nice good look at the thing.... This is one of the only hints you will get.. Though, looking back, I musta missed a bit of my script as I was typing it out.. Was away from my materials when I made the post. Anyway... Off to put in the order and that tiny little bit..

And yes, my pardons on the railroading. It shan't happen again unless everyone is being bloody stupid. Which I doubt will happen.

And now the fixes are up. Hopefully it didn't bother too many people there... Apparently I am a bit rusty. Anyway, Anything else that you all would like to put out now that we have the time?

okay, I'ld like to roll a skill check perception to see what is on the minigun. Don't know if it requires one, but its a good time to see if I got the skill system right.
No idea how the die roller works so lets just try a few things
[roll]2d6+3[/roll]
[die]2d6+3[/die]
[dice]2d6+3[/dice]
[2d6+3]

edit: Okay, and that worked like sh1t... How do you guys do dice around here? Invisible castle? Honor-system? Irony maildice? Or did I just screw the code up?

perception check (2d6+3=5)
Okay, invisible castle it is (though that site hates me, I tell you... I just rolled snake eyes)
Say, is a skill check made with 2 or with three dice?

3. I edited the system not too long ago. Also, I'm including Called Shot, Sprinting, and Cover rules, on Teru's request.
