Video Games

So, what currently-released/upcoming video games do you like/are looking forward to?

Personally, I can't wait for SCII. I want to play with all the Terrans' new toys. Transforming mechs, giant walkers and sniping Ghosts are gonna be fun. Laughing
Wukei

Let's see...favourite video games...

My very first pokemon was Pokemon Ruby
Pokemon Sapphire
Pokemon Emerald
Pokemon Blue
Pokemon Diamond
(mom has Pearl)
Pokemon Pinball
Pokemon Trozei
that's all of my pokemon games...though it's not all my pokemon stuff

Lego Star Wars I and II
Baldur's Gate (though I don't have 2...I'd really like it. I like playing as the dwarf ^.^ 'hobblegobble!')
Kingdom Hearts I, II, and Chain of Memories

The games I like watching mom play:
Neopets: The Darkest Faerie
Spyro (I bought her every single Spyro.)
Psychonauts (highly recommended)
Vael

Soul Reaver II, Legacy of Kain: Defiance.

Halo 3 and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion were pretty fun.
Artemis

I've had my eye on Assassin's Creed for a while now. I watch the previews and start drooling, the graphics are gorgeous! The stealthy gameplay is just the sort of thing I like too. I dropped a hint to my mom yesterday, so maybe it'll end up under the christmas tree. *crosses fingers*
Exachix

SPYRO ROCKS!
But only the first 3, the others suck.

I will post more when on a computer that isn't crud -_-.
Nevrmore

I'm getting Assassin's Creed as soon as I get my paycheck, which should be today.
Ms Elaneous

One word: SPORE.
Warpfire

I rented Assassin's Creed, and I ended up glad that I didn't buy it. It's a great game, but unless you're a completionist who likes trying to find all the collectible items and getting 100% on everything it probably won't last you too long, and in my opinion it's too repetitive for a second play through.

Also, I'm suprised nobody's said Mass Effect. If I can scrape together enough money I think I'm going to buy that today.

Ms Elaneous wrote:

If it ever actually releases. Razz
Obsidian Blade

I agree with Ms E.

Must. Get. Spore.
Baeleck

SPOOOOOOOOORE!

Do want.
Vael

I'm probably going to run out and buy a game today. I'll probably snatch up the Orange Box.
Orange Zergling

I'm looking forward to the PC-port of Assassin's Creed, Spore, Starcraft II, and Dawn of War: Soulstorm.

I wish at least a couple of them would be out for the holidays, instead of, like, Spring. Oh well.
Kantur

Looking forward to Spore, and Asassin's Creed on the PC. And kinda with Soulstorm.

As for old favourites:
Baldur's Gate I + II + Expansions (Though now I feel spoiled by CRPGs...So Planescape's sitting in the queue for it's first playthrough)
Project IGI for when I'm in a realistic soldiery mood
Serious Sam for stress busting.

Though there's many more I'll likely add over the next few days...
Ms Elaneous

Next year, baby!

[chant]sporesporesporesporesporesporespore[/chant]
Flabbicus

So when I actually get around to doing something besides mooching off my friend up the street I'll get all these games: Assassin's Creed, Oblivion, Mass Effect, also Bioshock, the Orange Box, and of course, Spore. Wink
Timberwolf

Favourite games..... errrrr, Mechwarrior ?

Also Mechcommander and NWN.

Not really looking forward to much, kinda chilled out on the whole game thing.
Castaras

Timberwolf wrote:

Same...I have too many games that I haven't yet finished...

And there's also the fact that I normally only buy the games that are old enough to actually able to be bought at a reasonable price. So OMGNEW games are kinda out of my range. =P

Games I like...

Transport Tycoon
Civ II: ToT
Spellforce: Order of Dawn
Might and Magic VII - IX
Heroes of Might and Magic III
Dungeon Keeper II
Anarchy Online

And many more that I can't remember at this moment in time.
Wukei

The only Spyro I didn't like was the one with Gary Oldman (yes, I know he plays a small part, but I love him...)

It was just like...watching a movie. Sorta like Xenosaga. There's more movie than game.
Baeleck

I only own a few games, but they're all ones I really like. My top five are:

Spellforce: The Order of Dawn + Breath of Winter expansion
Titan Quest
Diablo II
Galactic Civilisations II: Dread Lords
Half-life 2.

I plan to get Orange Box for Christmas too. Mainly for Portal.
Castaras

Baeleck wrote:

It has an expansion?!

*goes to give hint to mum and dad*

It has two - the second is Shadow of the Phoenix. The Breath of Winter campaign is the best of the three, in my opinion. Shadow of the Phoenix was a bit of a letdown, but it's probably still worth getting.

Oooh, Spyro, that brings back endless memories of Rypto's Rage... I should go back and re-play that, that was a fun game. I think the gamecube version sucked though... I don't remember a whole lot of that one, at least.
Warpfire

Anybody else looking forward to Age of Conan and/or Warhammer Online? I've been kind of looking for another MMORPG to get into after quitting WoW a while back.
Gnrlshrimp

The gamecube one did suck...It was terrible, in every respect, even the voices used sounded...dodgy.
Vael

Okay, so I'm going to go buy a game in a short amount of time (360).

What should I get- Orange Box, Assassin's Creed, Bioshock or something else altogether?
Wukei

Mom always calls it 'Riptok's Rage'...don't ask me why...she just can't seem to get that there is no hard sound in that specific title...
Exachix

I so want Spore.

I like the Playstation ones over the rest.

I have all the Baulder's Gate Games (For the PC). And Icewind Dale, Heart Of Winter, and Icewind Dale II. Plus NWN and both expansions

Oblivion is an awesome game, as is rome: total war.

I love Anarchy Online.

I have Spellforce-Order of Dawn.

KOTOR II rocks... *goes back to play it*
Wukei

I've got Eye of the Beholder for Gameboy Advance...not sure where it went, though...
Warpfire

Vael wrote:

Bioshock.

Really, Bioshock.
Castaras

Ooo, forgot about Myst.

Gods that's an awesome game.

I really need to replay it and actually finish it, and try Riven(Which I've been told is better than Myst. *glee*)
Flabbicus

I really need to finish Majora's Mask. And God of War.
DeBunny

Hehe....Spore....

I'm rather fond of the Resident Evil series, especially the fourth one for the Wii....
I like the Metal Gear Solid games, too.

Let's not forget Guitar Hero III.
The Chilli God

Don't forget about the other three or four sequels.

Oddly enough, the last one they made was the easiest, but Myst 3 remains my favorite. You cannot possibly say no to a giant glass marble roller-coaster ride, after all.

Dang, now I feel like going through them all over again.

Uru, Myst Exile, and Riven are the ones I remember hearing about. (ie - mum and dad played them)

But damn, I really need to play them again...*notes down to install them sometime*

Myst, the first myst is so so so hard...
Castaras

Exachix wrote:

Very. Which is why I haven't finished it yet. =P
The Chilli God

Myst Exile = Myst 3.
There were two more in that same vein aside from Uru (this had a much different gameplay to it): Myst IV: Revelation, and Myst V: End of Ages.

And, agreed - the first one was very difficult.
Lord Vader

Looking forward to the as-not-yet-even-confirmed Heroes of Might & Magic VI. Great games, great series.

And I completely forgot about Soulstorm, can't wait for that as well. Very Happy

Flabbicus

The best part about relying on one person for the gaming console: when he gets bored of Halo we torture our FPS-aholic friend by playing Viva Pinata. On multiplayer.

Awesome!

Bioshock is awesome.

Spore

Heroes Might & Magic IV - Yet another game I have yet to play. =P
Shadow of the Sun

The Metal Gear Solid games are the coded form of sex.

On drugs.
Exachix

Might And Magic rocks.

I have Heroes of Might and Magic II, and V.
Both rock.

Did you see the TV ad? Did you?? I had to change my pants afterwards.
The Chilli God

I wanted Heroes of Might and Magic V for christmas last year.
...Until I found that I would actually need to upgrade my computer's hardware to be able to play it. I still want that game, but now I also want a new computer to come with it.

I have HoMMII and HoMMIII already, though I don't play II anymore. And I hate IV, despite opportunities available to buy it - the gameplay of it is just stupid, but I'll admit its game music is simply too awesome for words.
Castaras

The Chilli God wrote:

Haven't listened to its game music, but yeah, the gameplay is kinda crap, from what I've played of it today...

III is better, so far.
blackout

Who else likes Space Empires V?

I've been playing it for awhile, now. Made myself a very good custom race, centered around fighting(naturally), and I've steamrolled three other races. I'm at war with a fourth right now, and their losing. ^_^
Kyrian

Just bought Assassin's Creed....time to go kill innocen...I mean...um...the targets. Yea...them....
Uberblah

Lessee... I loved Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3 kicked ass, Guitar Hero 3 rocks out loud, and Mario Galaxy is awesome. Waiting on the edge of my seat for SSBB (Super Smash Bros. Brawl).
Sophistemon

I am greatly anticipating the releases of both Spore and Soulstorm.

I finally got Dawn of War to work again, so I am a very happy person this week.
blackout

Wow, Sophistemon, I never pegged you as a DoW enthusiast. =)
Terumitsu

Hmm...

Armored Core 2/another age/last raven/4
Zone of the Enders 2 (Third one coming soon! *Squee!*)
Metal Walker
Xenogears
Megaman X3
Rockman & Forte
(Several other Robot themed games that don't come to mind)
Legend of Zelda... Pretty much all of them...
Metal Gear Solid is good... need to play the others
Legends of Phantasia/Symphonia/The Abyss
Final Fantasy I, VI, VIII & IX
Sonic 3 + the S&K lock on capability... 15 levels of fun.
Super Metroid
Metroid Prime 1-3
And a little spoken of thing called Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine... It's a spinoff game but so addictive....

That's call that come to mind for now

Oh! Gary's Mods. Not quite a game but any thing that lets you put rockets on a bath tub and cause mass distruction with it is a win in my book.
Metakirb

I'm currently plowing my way through mario galaxy with luigi, Prime three was and forever will be awesome, and occasionally i go on SSBM in preparation for brawl
Sophistemon

blackout wrote:

Meh. I do what I can for The Greater Good.
Timberwolf

You fool, you have admitted to blackout that you're a Tauista...
Sophistemon

I... uh... seem to have accidentally edited Lord Vader's post instead of quoting it... I only realized after having made the edit final... My sincerest apologies. I have deleted the post to prevent confusion.

If I remember correctly, and I hope that I do, Lord Vader expressed distress at his being one of few people that enjoy playing the Space Marine and Imperial Guard armies. He then expressed his displeasure with the storyline behind the Tau.

I then responded thus:

Sophistemon wrote:
See, now, we have the makings of a discussion here! What is it about the Tau's storyline that you find admittedly distasteful?

And, to put your mind at ease, I do sometimes play as the Space Marines and Imperial Guard, just not as often as I do the Tau. Their method of warfare just clicks with me for some reason.

Once again, I apologize for my error.
Kyrian

I beat Assassin's Creed today...

AMAZING.
Uberblah

I heard it was pretty good. It's one of those games that makes me wish I had a 360.
Orange Zergling

From what I hear the first level is awesome, but the rest of the game is pretty much the first level all over again. I'm waiting for the PC port in... spring?

----

I play Imperial Guard/Necrons in DoW. Necrons cuz they're cool (it has absolutely nothing to do with them being so utterly imbalanced that they will wtfpwn anything without any contest. Honest.), and IG... cuz they're cool. The Imperium is honestly my favorite faction in the 41st millennium. I couldn't tell you why, they just are. Perhaps it's their battle-strategies. Perhaps it's the fact they put the half-dead body of their leader onto a throne with life support and imprison him there and plan to do so for eternity while deifying him.
Sophistemon

Orange_Zergling wrote:

Now that's bureaucracy!
Lord Vader

Eh, it's alright, no hard feelings. We're all human. Hopefully, anyways. ^^

(Note: This is from the TT perspective, not the DoW one.)

What I find distasteful about them is 1) the seemingly invincible shield GW has given them to protect them from being crushed, and 2) the blatant hypocrisy of their philosophy and their actions.

Sure, the Imperium is ten times worse than the Tau Empire probably will ever be, but at least they don't pretend otherwise. The Tau come with smiles and milk and cookies, and then if you decide not to join them, you have a gun leveled at your head. Or, they give you "communication" helms to help you "understand" them better. Razz

I dislike them solely on their background and philosophy. (Didn't spell that right, did I. Confused) I love the models and the organization/tactics of their military.
DeBunny

Hehe....
Geometry Wars: Galaxies....
I lurves this game.
*runs off to play more*
Flabbicus

I remember playing Geometry Wars on a racing game for the 360, it was Gotham Racing or something like that.

Fun game, especially considering I got a ridiculously high score on it after the second try.
Uberblah

What is it? I've heard of it, but have no idea what it's about.
Orange Zergling

After all these years of having Warcraft III, I finally beat the single-player campaign.

Spoiler:

I loled when the weakest unit in the game killed the most powerful entity in the world.

From day 1 I was stuck somewhere in the orcish part. *sigh*
Lord Vader

Wisps killed Archimedes, right?
Orange Zergling

Archimonde? Yeah, pretty much.

This IS old enough to not warrant a spoiler... right?
Uberblah

Now you've ruined the entire game for me! Sad

Flabbicus

Ergh, not as good on the computer as on the fancy video game system. Must practice!
Uberblah

What system would I find it on?
Flabbicus

It's a minigame on a Xbox 360 racing game. Forget which one though.
Uberblah

Oh. Well I don't have a 360. Only a Wii. Thought I'm thinking about getting one.

Ridge Racer for sure.

Gak, knew I spelled it wrong. Razz

I really should've recognized that name, I am sort of a history buff. >_<
DeBunny

Geowars is the not-so-good Flash clone of Geometry Wars.
The original one was a hidden mingame on some Gotham Racing thingymagjig.
Then they made Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved.
Now they have Geometry Wars: Galaxies for the Wii and DS.
This includes Retro Evolved.

I have it for the DS and love this game. Much better than silly Geowars.
Lykan

I've been downloading the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game since Monday...

I'm at 93%.

I guess this is the point to ask if anyone's played it, and if all this waiting is worth it. =P
Lykan

*several hours of mutant, soldier, and bandit killing later*

... Yeah, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is fun. Get it.

I'm playing Call of Duty 4...and waiting on Lykan for some more awards....

Shuddup. I never said it was good. I just want to beat Hard Mode so I can go on to Expert. (Even thinking about it scares me still.)
Dallas_Dakota

Anybody playes Diablo 2 LOT here?
The Chilli God

Tried to. My friend kind of shoved the CD case in my face and said "THIS GOOD YOU PLAY!"
After two weeks of getting past a corrupt installer disk, I had fun for about two more weeks before another friend shoved the expansion CD in my face and said "THIS BETTA YOU PLAY!"
Now the entire game doesn't work (I think that the CD skipped upgrading on the OSX version and just went straight to upgrading a classic version that didn't exist, creating a system paradox), so I just deleted the whole thing.

-.-
Gnrlshrimp

That's a pity. The expansion pack had the druid...Which was by far the most awesome class you could be, at a ridiculously early stage you could get a little pack of animal minions to do your bidding. Diablo 2 + expansion = awesome.
Sophistemon

I used to play Diablo II religiously.

And, yes, I played a Druid.

Fun times, fun times.
Orange Zergling

I never played Diablo... might consider it, though. Heard nothing but good things about single-player, but nothing but horror stories about multiplayer.
