Theme-songs

Want people to know what you consider your theme-song? Your character's theme-song? Speculate on other people's character's theme-songs?

Well, do it here.

For me, my theme-song is easily All Along The Watchtower. Because it rocks.

The only character I have whose theme-song I can pinpoint is Sunn, and she gets Purple Haze.

I think the song that fits the Dancing Man best is I Am The Walrus.

And so down the ladder.
Orange Zergling

I have absolutely no clue... although I think the themesong for the Zerg in general would be Otherland.
Nevrmore

Dude, I was going to claim Purple Haze for Floyd Sad
Shadow of the Sun

Never! Sunn has an almost unhealthy fixation on purple, as do I.

Floyd could be Walking In Dissonant Worlds by Xasthur.

Also, Crucius completely gets Pleasure Of Another's Pain by Empyrean.
helgraf

It's a bit of a difficult call for Helgraf.

I'm inclined to mention "Shape of my Heart" by Sting, but I don't know if that quite fits right; it does fit in places surely.
Nevrmore

You shouldn't choose the theme song based on the name of the song alone. I think of it in terms of the name, the lyrics, and what I imagine the character would be doing while the music plays.

Quote:

...Why?
Timberwolf

Nightstar should get Bring me to life. I don't even like Evenescense but I always felt it kinda fit her, same with Born Slippy by Underworld. Duskblossom gets Whisper, again by Evanescense for the same reason. As a family, the girls should either have Entry of the Gladiators, Pompeii by ES Postumous or Mars from the Planets, in my opinion.
Deadly

I don't really have any theme songs as such for any of my characters. I do have a theme song for Town as a whole, which is "Coffin Fodder" by Cradle of Filth. I doubt anyone else would find it fitting, but every time I listen to it I think of Town. I have no idea why, it's not even one of their best songs.

Deadly was inspired entirely by a cover version CoF did of some song, I can't remember which one, where it sounds like he's singing "a deadly raccoon". Of course, that's not actually what he sings, but it inspired me anyway and as such I guess that song could be considered Deadly's theme Very Happy

Aeri, or rather her plot, was inspired by the CoF track "Beauty Slept in Sodom", or a tiny part of the lyrics atleast, and to a lesser degree their track "Heaven Torn Asunder". I don't think they fit so well as actual themes, though.

Akiya and Jadic were both to some degree inspired by the track "Lord Abortion". It's a sick song, and fits the two sickest characters I have rather well. It probably fits Akiya a lot better than it does Jadic.

Yeah... I get a lot of inspiration from that crazy band, maybe because it's what I've been listening to almost exclusively for a long time Rolling Eyes Most of my inspiration comes from pictures and artwork, though, the musical/lyrical inspiration is usually just supplemental.
NecroPaladin

I was thinking about this for a while. I was also thinking about a town score.

State-I Kill Spies-Agent Orange
Revenant-Furious Angels-Rob Dougan
Morbius-Supermassive Black Hole-Muse

I'll post more later. Lunchtime.

NecroPaladin Away!
J. Muller

It's only really my Modern Town characters who could be said to have themesongs...

Chase: Sandstorm--Darude
Mercury: Killer Queen--Queen
Maximilian: Heck No!--Maldroid
Ronnie: TNT--AC/DC
Geomancer

Dancing Man gets Rock Lobster hands down.
Shadow of the Sun

The Town as a whole is easily Flying in a Blue Dream by Joe Satriani.

Malleo-The Breakfast Machine-Danny Elfman
Chuck McNormalGuy-F*** Authority-Pennywise
Namesake-You Know My Name-Chris Cornell
Captain Orwell-Wanted Dead or Alive-Bon Jovi
The Angel of the Scale-[Let the] Bodies [Hit the Floor]-Drowing Pool
Deckard Dark (And Dexter Darkling)-Switchback-Celldweller

For the record, Switchback is my favorite song. I've got four different versions of it.
wxdruid

I think I've decided

Gwen-Wildflowers by Tom Petty
Alena-Storms in Africa by Enya
Tehanu-Masochism Tango by Tom Lehrer
Nevrmore

Also, Descartes theme song is Brains! by Voltaire, and that's that.
Castaras

Castaras: Vienna - Ultravox
Ilvari: Nightcrawler - Judas Priest

Not sure about any others yet...

EDIT: Thought of some more.

Feli, Ferdir, Kitten, Helen, Fus(All the character's I've got rid of): For Absent Friends - Genesis
Exachix

I'm not sure about any of mine... I'll have to think. =P
Shadow of the Sun

Another of mine...

Alexander Deschain-Behind Blue Eyes, The Who.
Vael

Vael- Crimson King, by Demons and Wizards. I believe I've said that somewhere else...
Wukei

Wukei -- It's a Hard Life - Queen
Loki -- Sympathy for the Devil - GnR version
Kerri -- Rainy Day Man - Sailor Moon
Aidan -- Beautiful - Creed
Modern Mhina -- Over my Head - Titan AE
Falon Lin -- If Only Tears Could Bring You Back -- Pokemon

Wukei and Hawkeye -- We Were Strangers - Anastasia
Lykan and Mhina -- If I Never Knew You - Pocahontas
Kalar and Kerri -- As Long as You're Mine - Wicked
Destro Yersul

I'm still not sure what Destro's theme should be. My personal theme is probably Loco - Murphy David Lee
Orange Zergling

I remember that. If I recall correctly, that post is what got me into metal in the first place, actually...

Just had a weird, random thought; maybe Oskar's theme would be Come Whatever May by Stone Sour... probably doesnt fit as well as I think it does now, I'm tired and it's 4am.

I've gotten you into Legacy of Kain by posting a link, I've gotten you into metal by posting a link...
Hmmm... what other tastes do I have that I can impose on you? Wink
Orange Zergling

I'm scared now.

=P
Vael

Whaaaat?
Very Happy
Vael

This is more of a song that should be sung to Vera, but still, it really fits her (if you know the translation, which I will provide).
Rise, as sung by Origa.
The lyrics.
Shadow of the Sun

Another song that fits me is The Nothing Song, aka Untitled #4.

It's a lovely song.
Wukei

I listened to "As Long as You're Mine" today, and figured it fits Kalidas and Aidan better than Kalar and Kerri

Video/Music
Lyrics
Wukei

Mikhail's theme song: Keep it Gay

Video/Music
Lyrics
Hawkeye

Merant: Prodigy - Fire
Alex & Alena: Donna Lewis - I Love You Always Forever

God of hellfire for Merant? That so fits.
And the sappiness of the song for Alex and Alena also fits.

Hawkeye & Wukei: Groove Coverage - God is a Girl
Lykan

Considering the music I listen to, I basically have music for fighting and normal music for all of the characters I have... Unfortuantly, the because of the music I listen to, the "normal" music is considerably lacking as opposed to the combative music. >.>

Normal -
Modern Lykan - No Way Back, Foo Fighters

Fighting -
Lykan - Points of Authority, Linkin Park

Err... More will come later.
Exachix

Exachix: No Son of Mine - Genesis
[Lyrics]

((For those who didn't know. Exachix ran away from home rather than to be cast out because he was stealing.))

More when I find them =).
Uberblah

This theme song was given to me by my mom.
Kick My Ass - Big & Rich
Destro Yersul

Destro's theme, I have decided, should be "Loco" By Murphy David Lee. I don't have a video, so you'll have to make do with the lyrics.

Looky!
Nevrmore

So, yeah, I found the perfectly creepy song for Crucius.

Misery (NSFW)

Even the voice of the singer sounds similar to how I imagined Crucius'.

Now tell me - Have I made myself clear,
That I will magnify every cut and every bruise
And every single childhood tear?
Kyrian

Theme song for Kyrian, Nazgul, Rafael, and Leonel:

In Amber Clad
The_Librarian

I like this one for Greeny - it's hard to find songs that don't mention the l-word, but this one even mentions sitting by someone's feet, so it fits for the wolf. Also, Flogging Molly are one of my favourite bands, and I'd find any excuse to listen to their songs Very Happy

If I ever leave this world alive, by Flogging Molly.
Lyrics

Others may follow.
Shadow of the Sun

Libris?

I commend thee on thy musical tastes.

That is all.
Wukei

Sorin and Rudy (modern town): this just sorta popped into my head as Rudy started leaving...again...

You Don't Bring me Flowers
Lyrics
Darkblade

Darkblade: Cardiff - Stone Sour or Soldier Side - System of a Down

KNAVES: Deer Dance - System of a Down

GUFIPOLICE: One More Murder - Better Than Ezra I'm sorry they only had this Third Watch video for the song.

Er'n: Vermillion pt 2 - Slipknot

Hamilton & XENOS: Killing in the Name (of) - Rage Against The Machine

Kateline: Chop Suey! - System of a Down

Virus: The Virus of Life - Slipknot or Down With the Sickness - Disturbed

Wait & Bleed: Wait and Bleed - Slipknot

and on a related note my visions of what the Jury look like, the soliders in this video B.Y.O.B. - System of a Down

Figured out a new one for Aidan and Sam:

Don't Say You Love Me
Lyrics
Nevrmore

Hawk's new theme song:

One of my Turns

I think it describes his current mental state quite well.

EDIT: "Goodbye Cruel World" works pretty well, too.

Goodbye, cruel world
I'm leaving you today
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye
Goodbye all you people
There's nothing you can say
To make me change my mind
Goodbye.

Floyd fan writ large. I'm listening to The Wall right now. It's on "The Trial."

"Good morning the worm your Honour
The crown will plainly show the prisoner
who now stands before you
was caught red-handed showing feelings...
showing feelings of an almost ... human nature.
This will not do..."

We are of similiar tastes then, in that regard.

The Wall is still my favorite of their works, though Momentary Lapse comes awfully close.

On the Turning Away fits Helgraf pretty well.
Wukei

I wish I had some Pink Floyd music...the Wall is my favourite...

unfortunately, I've no money.

I'll record myself singing it and email it to you!
Wukei

No offense, but no thanks.
Nevrmore

Fine. I'll start my own band. With guitars. And tambourines. And you're not invited!

*runs off, crying*
Wukei

I almost expected "I'll start my own band, with tambourines and hookers. But forget the tambourines. And forget the band."
Nevrmore

I was going to do that, but I figured it was too predictable.

Now if you please, I need to continue my song, ode to hookers.

Fine, I'll start my own theme park! With blackjack! And hookers! In fact, forget the theme park and the blackjack!
NecroPaladin

Yep, that was it.
Wukei

Songs randomly pop into my head, sometimes.

For A and Kal right now I have:

What is Love?
DivineAmour

My theme song? Probably Machine Head by Bush.

Ekrath's? (Considering his most recent experience) (Don't Fear) The Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult.

And I'm going to make a character soon who's theme will be Welcome to the Jungle by Guns N' Roses.

That gets referenced in Yu-gi-oh Abridged, which is where I originally heard the line. Kaiba says something along the lines of:

"Come on, Mokuba. We'll start our own card tournament. With blackjack, and hookers. Actually, on second thought screw the blackjack!"
Darkblade

A few random People's songs complain if you don't like anything I gave to one of your PC's.

Darkblade being tortured:(SIC) - Slipknot
Alastor, Revenat and State: Eyel Ess - Slipknot
Ba'al: Sur Facing - Slipknot
State vs Namesake: Only One - Slipknot

Morbid Towers: Duality - Slipknot
Zerzura: Psycho Killer - Talking Heads
X.E.N.O.S: The Beautiful People - Marilyn Manson
Zerg Swarm: Aerials - System of a Down
Ghost State: Question! - System of a Down
Wukei

Okay, wait...wait...this popped into my head.

Alex Shipmaster:

I'm My Own Grandpa
Lyrics
Wukei

And another that popped into my head. This'n's for Carmen and Merant:
(More Carmen than Merant)

The Cardigans--Lovefool
Lyrics
Kyrian

I sorta saw this one fitting Samuel, in a small way:

Apologize

Lyrics are there in the info, just click "more".

For Kyrian, really only the chorus works though:

Stronger

And another one for Kyrian, Leonel, Nazgul, and Rafael:

Blow Me Away
Kyrian

Here's yet another one that I felt fit Samuel:

Letting Go

Don't ask me why. I just saw Samuel fit best with this song.
NecroPaladin

Kyrian wrote:

If only the chorus works, check out Daft Punk. They wrote a little ditty that would be the exact song you're looking for.

I've had to explain this to so many people by now...

Kayne West only did the rapping part of that song. The whole song aside from the lyrics of Kayne West rapping and a few little shicky-shicky-shaw (I dunno how to spell that) sound effects is just an old Daft Punk song that he recorded over.

Sorry, I'm just a bit tired that people keep praising the cool and unique sound of that sweet new Kayne West original when Kayne West only did the little chunks of rap imposed over a track he didn't write.

I know Daft did the original. But I meant the Stronger chorus, not the Daft Punk line.

And I agree. I may praise the song, but I know and say that it's a Remix.
Nevrmore

Kanye West has forever besmirched a perfectly good Daft Punk song (albeit from a very stupidly named album) with faux-ghetto.

I like the Venetian sunglasses, though.
Timberwolf

Kanye West has done one great thing in his life.

Beating Arthur (Arthur Dollar, aka 50 Cent) in the charts. Fiddy said he'd retire if that happened. Well, I'm waiting, when is he going to retire ?
Wukei

I hate 50 cent...but maybe that's because he teaches bad grammar (Fiddy?)
Timberwolf

To us Brits, that's what the way he says "Fifty" sounds like, so he says "Fiddy Cent"
Wukei

No, that's really how he says it...it's a pain in the ass, isn't it? It almost hurts your ears to hear it...
Warpfire

Joseph - A song that probably won't make sense to other people, but that fits to me for some reason, would be From Yesterday(lyrics included) The lyrics don't really fit, but for some reason it just works for me. Maybe Lonely Souls, also.

That's all for now.
Shadow of the Sun

I've got a song here that fits Alexander and Gwen perfectly; I was surprised when I found it.

I don't have a video of it, because A) it's an obscure band (Reverend Bizarre) and B) the song is 11 minutes long, but I'll put up the lyrics.

Eternal Forest
Among the trees
in the deepest forest.
We are here alone.
We have a place of our own.

How could I tell you what I feel?
How could I describe
the flame inside me,
my will to life?

Such a moment of pleasure,
to be here with you.
Like a well-hidden treasure.
I hope you feel it too.

How strange it is,
for a while to feel this well.
But what tomorrow brings,
it is hard to tell.

I have to make it clear.
Leave behind all fear.
Three little words
I whisper to your ear.

He'd be singing it to her.
Nevrmore

I don't know who yet, but I'm sure that Carry Me Home by The Living End is compatible with someone.

"Step right up and be a man
On your knees and pray
Freedom's just another open bottle, anyway"
Kyrian

Ok, I've found two songs that I feel at the moment right now, that they would be like themes for ME. Not for any of my characters, but for me. I feel these work because, yes, they are Christian songs, but the first one touches me deeply because it fits the hell my life is going through right now, and listening to them causes me to break down, while at the same time making me feel slightly better.

When The Mountains Fall

Well, I can't even find the other one, but if you ever hear/have heard/find "The Holy One" by Mark Schultz, that's the second one.
The Chilli God

Okay. I think I've finally found one that fits myself.

Lemon Tree - by Fool's Garden.

Oh, sure, if I wanted to make it more thematic, I could replace all the words "Yellow Lemon Tree" with "Crimson Chilli Tree," but that'd just cheapen the song.

And I don't have anything solid for any of my PC's. Possibly In the Hall of the Mountain King for MURK, and maybe Lament of the Highborne for Megara, but I'm not sure.
Kyrian

Ok, I heard this just today...and just about died laughing. It's so going to be a theme for one of my characters:

Still Alive
Hoseki

Mirror Einkil may not be my most played character, but he's the only one with a really fitting theme song- Facade, from Jekyll and Hyde.

Lyrics
Vael

My latest character (Eva Lockhart) definitely has this as her theme- some of you may recognize it (it's the theme of Dante from Fullmetal Alchemist, who was definitely the inspiration for Eva).

Every time I hear the chorus of Easy Silence, by the Dixie Chicks, I can't help but think of Lyrak and Tehanu in their quieter, more romantic moments.

Easy Silence, Final Chorus wrote:
The easy silence that you make for me
It's okay when there's nothing more to say to me
And the peaceful quiet you create for me
And the way you keep the world at bay for me
The way you keep the world at bay for me
The way you keep the world at bay

Wounds by Toshiyuki O'Mori in Tsukihime for Angel...it's completely instrumental, but before I even knew the name of the song it sounded like something that would play if someone asked her about her past.  (Assuming she'd divulge.)

Lucas(my main character)'s theme song has to be Unknown Soldier, by Breaking Benjamin. I dunno why, it just seems to fit him.

ValdisRequiem

Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Hikaru Utada
Hitomi, absolutely.
I know its a cover from Green Day, but I hate that band, and having it done by Hikaru Utada fits Hitomi so much more.

And, for myself,
Meet Virginia, Train
Kyrian

Sinnerman

Not sure where I get these things, but when I hear this, I really see Keith.
Shadow of the Sun

I've found a song that I think fits Aesa nigh perfectly. It'd be sung about her, not by her, but still. A nice little bit of contemporary folk...by a metal band!

Please note that the song does contain some adult themes, as do the lyrics, which I've spoilered. So don't screech at me, because I warned you so it's self inflicted.

Spinning Jenny - Skyclad

Spoiler:

She came down from the Western Hills when we were not prepared
I turned deaf ears to words of warning now I'm running scared.
Casting caution to the wind now that the cat's away
I say my grace - fill my face (then for forgiveness pray).
Gon knows I was an honest man - the same as any other
Who loved his wife - worked all his life to keep his family
Until the 'beast' that never sleeps beneath my silken covers
Reared its head and bit its thumb at my morality.

Her passion for passion - it will devour
Cruel are the thorns of this delicate flower
Her lust for lust - it will consume
A siren song summons all men to their doom.

She whispered of her innocence - (a plea I must contest)
While baptising helpless sinners with a missionary zest
She will exorcise your demons - then exercise your thighs
Await your 'second-coming' with a hunger in her eyes.

Her sweetmeats are the souls of men - she'll gorge herself to bursting
And for yours her heart is thirsting - as a spider craves a fly
No mortal man could ever hope to suit her as a suitor
She'll rewrite the Kama Sutra if you'd care to watch her try.

Her passion for passion - it will devour
Cruel are the thorns of this delicate flower
Her lust for lust - it will consume
A siren song summons all men to their doom.

I reach for heaven - desire drags me down
When fools choose their king I'll be heir to that crown
A strange kind of madness I cannot condone
If you are without sin come cast the first stone.

It's raining again
Oh no, my love's at an end.
Oh no, it's raining again
Too bad I'm losing a friend.

Oh no, it's raining again

No need to get uptighter
C'mon you little fighter
And get back up again
Oh get back up again
Fill your heart again...
