Sage Elf Glyphs

Sage Elves transfer their power through glyphs that they write.  They're not quite as easily drawn to power as sorcerers, because they still have to have an outside source.  Writing on any surface, however, they can produce a spell.  And they aren't limited to certain domains or only the wizard/sorcerer spells (though some are more adept at certain types of spells than others.  Ayani's druid magic is strongest.  Her father's is summoning.)

Not exactly the usual homebrew, but I will be putting the alphabet, special words (such as the symbols on Ayani's arm and bracer), and each spell's glyph here.

(Next comes Races, then Classes.  I have them all written down, now I just need to draw them on the computer.)

Fantastic stuff, Wukei. I would love to see this expanded to a fully-functional font. I'd download that in a second.
Wukei

I used to know how to do that...but that was a long time ago.  Besides, it'd take a whole lot of ctrl+alt+### codes to do all of the glyphs.

I may not finish the prestige classes today.  I'm getting tired.

Ooh, these are really interesting, Wukei. Out of curiousity, is there any sort of pattern on which the words are built? I can sort of see the way the alphabet changes from letter to letter, and was wondering if there was more to the characters.
Wukei

The words are actually a compelation of the letters that make it up.  (though pieces of the full letter may be missing.)  Take Orc for example (since it's only 3 letters and easies to follow.)  You have the obvious O.  Add the R to the very top of that and you have

  _ _
/_/

Finally, add the tail of the C to the end to finish off the word 'orc.'

/_/   \

To make it a half orc, you just add a little minus symbol in front of it, since it's not quite an orc ^.^

As a dabbler of sorts in linguistics (it's what I'm hoping to get my degree in) I find this to be a really interesting alphabet. It's not a language, of course, but I don't think you intend it to be. It's really, really cool.

The only problem I think I can have with it is the same problem I have with the tengwar: due to the cursive nature of the script, some things would be hard to decipher.

Ah, but the elves study for 300 years to make the glyphs exactly the same each time.  If they don't make it just right, it won't work. (For the spells and such.)  Their names are not combined like certain words are.

I am really liking this, Wukei. Excellent work!

Are you going to do numbers?
Exachix

Woa... Nice Wukei.

V. Funky!
Wukei

I may, eventually.  Or just do it as a glyph of the combined letters that make it up.  That seems a bit too complicated, though.  Maybe I'll work more with simplistic dashes and dots for that...in fact, I have an idea.  (I'll get that done in like 5 minutes now...)
Xaspian

I understand about how the words are made... but is there a specific layout of the combination of letters? How about anagrams? Would the symbol for an Orc and a Roc (as in, the bird) differ?

Eh, trust me to be picky about details like that...
Wukei

Roc would have the R play the first part of the word so it would look like the R is on top of the O and to the left instead of to the right as it is now.

1/4 would be = while 3/4 would be ===, 1/8 would be =, etc.
Sophistemon

Very cool, Wukei. Awesome stuff.

I already had an idea of what I wanted the numbers to be considering I used the symbol for 1/2 in 'half-orc' and 'half-elf.'  From there, I just played it out that 1/2 elongated would be a 1, and I had wanted to use the circles again.  So it went rather smoothly from there.  (Though the pattern through the rest of the numbers suggests that I should switch the 9 and 0.)

The Cs have been modified so that they didn't shrink.  If you viewed their old version, simply press ctrl f5 to see the new ones:
