Shadow of the Sun

Random Music Talk

Because I am indeed bored, this will now be used for random music talk.

Currently? I'm listening to For The Love Of God by Steve Vai. An excellent song with much to recommend it.

Next? Probably Whispering A Prayer, also by Steve Vai.

I really like instrumental rock, can't you tell?
Exachix

Really? =P.

I like Instrumentals... but I also like songs with good lyrics... =).

Like Telegraph Road by Dire Straits.
Timberwolf

I'm listening to Blueberry Hill by fats Domino

The man is a legend.
Shadow of the Sun

Hehe, I'll give you three guesses for my favourite Jimi Hendrix song...

...leaving out All Along The Watchtower, which is always an incredible song. The original is best, though.

The Dave Matthews Band version ain't too shabby, either.
Castaras

I think I spent about an hour at school listening to songs from Lamb Lies Down on Broadway.

Pure awesomeness, is that album.

Woooo! Genesis! My favorite album of theirs has to be Foxtrot, though.

I haven't actually got Foxtrot yet...one of those albums on my list to get...

Along with Selling England...and some albums by Enya...

I have too much music I want...and not enough money...Sad
Nevrmore

I'm addicted to Octavarium by Dream Theater right now, probably because it feels so much like a Pink Floyd song.
Wukei

My favorites are probably showtunes. Andrew Lloyd Webber is great, but I'm a huge fan of Wicked. There's a few from Ave Q I like. I'm a big fan of Fiddler and a lot of the Sondheim.
Baeleck

Cassie, Supper's Ready on that album has got to be one of the most awesome songs ever, in my opinion. I really encourage you to get it, if you haven't heard it already.

Got it on Seconds Out.

Haven't heard the Fox Trot version though...Might have to some time...
Baeleck

The Foxtrot version's a fair bit different, but both versions are good. To be honest, I don't listen to much Genesis any more... it was kinda a taste i picked up from my dad, along with Pink Floyd.

Always from the Dads. Smile

Yeah, my dad was the one who got me into Genesis, Pink Floyd, Queen, and others...
Exachix

I like Pink Floyd ALOT.

and Genesis.

My mum and dad both like Genesis, and Pink Floyd, and Alan Parsons... etc.

The only music I really found myself was A-ha.
Wukei

I like Pink Floyd too...she's a cute little guinea pig...I mean, just look at that face:

(Soorry, she's one of my favorites ^.^)
Exachix

Awww!

And by 'I found a-ha myself' = 'Not much of the rest of the family listens to them.'

GOOD SONG! Good album, for that matter. They're coming out with a new album in a few weeks.

I am currently addicted to Sonata Arctica's newest album, "Unia", as well as Devin Townsend's "Synchestra" and Porcupine Tree's "Stupid Dream."

I like prog. Can't you tell?
Castaras

And I am addicted to two beautiful songs.

Carpet Crawlers(Lamb version) - Genesis
The Lamia - Genesis

Amazing songs. And Lamia is the only song which actually makes me cry, because of the song. Powerful.
Shadow of the Sun

I just woke up to the best wake up song ever...

...Mars, Bringer of War.
NecroPaladin

That is a great song. I love in "The Venture Brothers" where the two evil henchmen are waking up and driving to work while doing it acapella.
Shadow of the Sun

Marche Slave is also good.

Of course, I have to say that because my best friend is a Tchaikovsky nut and would kill me if I didn't.
wxdruid

I mostly listen to 80's music.... with a bit of Sons of the Pioneer, New Age and a few other odd ones mixed in.
Gnrlshrimp

I listen to a lot of Queen, but I do enjoy listening to Pink Floyd as well.
NecroPaladin

I'm all about the punk and grunge. Ah, Pennywise...where would I be without you? After its brethren, metal and alternative, though, my favorite is probably classical music Confused .
J. Muller

I mostly listen to rock, alt, and alt rock... though I go through phases of listening to different bands/styles.

I'm currently, for instance, listening to Danger! High Voltage! by Electric Six. Last week, it was Operation Ground and Pound by Dragonforce.
Castaras

Some Prog Rock, some Metal, some Folk, some Classical.

I think that's it for the music I listen to...hmm...
The Chilli God

Okay, lets put it this way.

95% of my music does not have lyrics. Purely instrumental.
Of the 5% that do have lyrics, roughly 50% of them aren't in English (which is the only language I'm fluent in).

70% of my music originates from a game of some sort. I have music from World of Warcraft, Baldur's Gate II, Planescape: Torment, Heroes of Might and Magic (3, 4 & 5), and even some Golden Sun and Final Fantasy music in there.
The rest are either actual soundtracks, movie soundtracks, publicly-available tracks, or just random stuff that I found on the web and happened to like.

What? It's all conductive to study!
Wukei

I like FF music. I also have an original Japanese soundtrack to Castlevania...the good one.

I've got another Japanese soundtrack...I paid $40 for it at the time (I was young and stupid ^.^) Yu Yu Hakusho. Don't gimme that look, the books are good, and so is the music. It's the cut up TV show they air in the US that's bad.
Nevrmore

Ever since I beat Metal Gear Solid 3 last night, I've been listening to Starsailor's "Way to Fall" quite fervently (if you didn't know, that song plays during the end credits to MGS 3.) Very fitting song to play right after the final cutscene.
Shadow of the Sun

I've been listening to My Bloody Valentine near continuously...

...my current favourite song, if you discount the constant two, is Sometimes, again by My Bloody Valentine.

One of my favorite songs at the moment is Fidelity by Starsailor. I am, in fact, listening to it right now.
wxdruid

Enya...
Timberwolf

I'm back into Orbital again

RAAAAAHHHHHH !!!!!!
wxdruid

and the song stuck in my head is from Barley Bree, No Man's Land
Xaspian

I like music, but don't actually listen to much of it. The only CDs that I listen to regularly are my 'Classic FM at the movies' set... 20% John Williams, with classics such as Gladiatior, Star Wars, Pirates of the Carribean, Magnificent Seven, ET and Back to the Future.

Having said that I don't listen to enough musi, I almost always have the radio on. But it's for the documentaries and dramas, and of course comedy. Long Live BBC 7!

~Xaspian, also like 'The Planets'.
Deadly

Let's see... currently I listen to Cradle of Filth almost exclusively. It is pretty much the only metal band I like anymore (I used to love everything metal when I was young, now I think most of it is crap or just boring). CoF is the only band, metal or not, where I can honestly say that I love everything they've made, and oddly enough I never really seem to get tired of listening to it over and over again. That's a bit unusual.

Sometimes, when I need a small change, I listen to a few Edgen tracks. It's good when you need to be inspired or get in the right mood for a big battle in Town or something Smile

Otherwise I like just about anything, regardless of genre. After getting tired of listening to metal I became a great fan of Techno/Trance music, quite a change, but perhaps I needed it. Then I changed to stuff like Shpongle and anything by Simon Posford in general, which was a much smaller change, if a change at all... for a while after that I listened to a lot of classical music before getting tired of that and just listening to whatever was on the radio. Now I'm back with the metal I guess. Maybe next time I'll be a popstar Very Happy

I'm looking for who wrote/performed this old western song.

Destiny, there's no escape for any man
From the very day you're born,
Your destiny is planned.

A man rode into Town one day
all dressed in dusty black
three tombstones in his buckboard
and a shovel in his pack

He drove straight to the graveyard
there he dug three holes
the tombstones bore a message
for three departed souls

Destiny, there's no escape for any man
from the very day you're born
your destiny is planned

There are several more verses but I can't remember the words

he goes into a Tavern, gets a drink waiting for his woman and her lover. They come in, he can't kill them, an outlaw kills all three and they are buried in the plots he dug for them.
Exachix

Sorry gwen, dunno.

I've started listening to 80's music again after 'Everybody wants to rule the world' by Tears for Fears was played on the radio...

*smiles*
