a nut + sweet as = obscure Britishism that I've never understood, hating nuts as I do.
DeBunny

Yeah...I never really thought of em as sweet, maybe a bit bitter.
Baeleck

Nuts - I'm allergic. Just don't go there.
wxdruid

although tonight is looking ugly, lots of dust headed for us. Looks like I'll be eating dust when I leave work.
Vael

Wheeeee, dust!

In other news, I can't seem to get a hold of any of the classes I want to take.
Exachix

I should be working out where I want to go to university =S.
Baeleck

No, you should worry about where you're going to sixth form college first. Unless you have already done so.

I am so going to Hills Road college here in Cambridge.
The Chilli God

Oh, I know which university I'm going to and what course I'm taking.
It's just a matter of scavenging up enough monies to pay for it without taking out a student loan or applying for a scholarship (Funnily enough, student loans don't have any interest applied here, but they can still take as long to pay off as your average mortgage!).
Geomancer

I am almost done with my Sophomore year and can hardly believe I am going to be an upperclassmen next year. (Seriously I am freaking out)
Darkblade

Only grade 10, I got a few more years to worry about college yet.
J. Muller

Same here.
McBish

Bah, I'm going to be a junior in college next year, so far no debt. Of course I only have about 80 dollars left to my name. Good thing I got a job that I start soon.
Vael

Sophmore in college next year, and I'll probably- hopefully, maybe be able to eek through without any debt.
I know I've at the VERY LEAST got two years fully paid for.
wxdruid

I finished school a long time ago.....
Nevrmore

Junior in high school.
wxdruid

and oddly enough....I'm on of the few in my family actually working in my field.
Wukei

Y'know...I shoulda been outta college by now. I'm what's called a Professional Student. My major has changed so much. But I've finally realized how big the field of ministry is, and how many women leaders we have now...so I don't feel so strange about taking a double major of Theology and Mythology.
Castaras

I've chosen my GCSEs, and I'm starting them next year.

Whoopee. Harder work. And stuff. >.<

At least I've ditched most of the lessons I hate...
Xaspian

I remember choosing GCSEs... I wanted to do Ancient Greek, but not enough people chose it. I had to do latin instead Sad
Smile

Those were the years... back when I actually met real people...
Exachix

Aww...

We had to do:
Maths, English, and Science. And Tecnology, PE... and PSE.

But there were other options you could take.
I chose:
ICT GNVQ (which meant I couldn't do Computing =( ).
Separate Sciences. (Biology, Chemisty, and Physics)
and Business Studies -_-.

For AS I've done.
Maths
Further Maths
Chemisty
Physics

I an dropping chemistry at the end of this year though.

Oh, you are not.

My cat has a hurt leg. It makes me sad to see him limping all over the place.
wxdruid

poor kitty
Sophistemon

Yeah. We took him to the vet and they diagnosed it as a bite-wound inflicted by our little hyper-active dog. It was also slightly infected, so they gave us some antibiotics.
Darkblade

Hyper-active dog...I got one of those he isn't remotely little though. German Sheaperd, Great Parenesse cross.
Exachix

I'm not fond of Dogs... but I love Foxes and Wolves... =S.
Baeleck

Foxes are awesome. Second favorite animal, after hedgehogs =D
Wukei

It's all about chinchillas, man...their personalities rock.
Baeleck

Chinchillas are good. I don't know why but I like animals which are kinda... round in shape most. Such as hedgehogs, porcupine fish, certain types of owl, bumble bees, etc.
Wukei

Heh...it's funny cuz even a fat person can call a chinchilla "bubble butt" and not feel like they should be looking in a mirror.

We have a guinea pig that's fat enough that he can "beg" for a good long time without falling over.
Deadly

I love wolves, birds and snakes. Foxes are nice too.
Darkblade

I actually prefer cats, even though I'm slightly allergic to them.
Wukei

I think I'm allergic to rabbits...which isn't good when you have to feed them daily.
Baeleck

It's a pity we can't have any mammals in our hose, seeing as my dad is allergic. I like to see the guinea pigs at my cousins' house, though. One is called marmite, 'cause of the colour of his fur. It's just the right colour.

Now, here's a paradox. I can say I love and hate marmite, seeing as I hate the edible version =P
Sophistemon

Ours is an affenpinscher.
wxdruid

That looks like a dog you would own, Sophistemon. Smile
Sophistemon

It is not my dog; it is my mother's. I wanted something bigger.
Orange Zergling

I like furry stuff, like rodents and dogs. I have a slight allergy of cats. We have a small-ish golden retreiver named Toni. Bestest dog evar.
Although reptiles and fish are starting to grow on me (not literally... ... ...), probably from having lived around them my whole life.
Baeleck

My dad likes fish. He's an angler, and we've had plenty as pets before. He'd most like to get a chameleon, though. That'd be cool.
Wukei

Those are very hard to take care of, though...
Baeleck

Yeah, I know. Gotta have all the right temperature and light and all that. And then there's the feeding them with crickets and the like. We're lucky in that we have a pet store in our village, and part of it specializes in reptiles.
Wukei

Yea, but I mean, if you're off by like 2 degrees either way there's a problem...they're just too difficult, really, for anybody to care for...but that's just my opinion.
Baeleck

My dad's a real whiz at keeping the temperatures right. We've had various tropical insects as well (praying mantises, stick insects, jungle nymphs) which also rely on having the right temperature. My dad would probably be bothered to put the effort in, seeing as he's so passionate about that kinda thing.

We used to have three massive fish tanks.

We now have two, because one of them had all the fish but one die while we were on holiday a few years ago.

Not a nice thing to come home to...
Baeleck

Yeah, I've had the same. That heat wave back in 2003? Killed all of our fish while we were on holiday.
Castaras

I think it was something to do with the electricity and wiring in the tank. Electrocuted all the fish but one.

He's a survivor though. Managed to survive...two house moves, three fish tank moves, and a little kid pouring a pot of aspirin into the tank.

Medicine pot safe from children...hehehehehehe...
Exachix

We have fish.

I don't really look at them though =).
Darkblade

I used to have fish, one of my cats ate them all though.

Reminds me of one of our science lessons. There's a tank of brine shrimp at the back, and someone thought it'd be interesting to put a bit of acid in it, then some universal indicator. Fool. We spent the rest of the lesson trying to neutralise it again, whilst hoping our teacher wouldn't notice. We managed to do it in the end.

But alas, after we got back after half term, they were all dead as doornails. D=
Exachix

heh.

I poured glycerin(?) (well, really expensive liquidy thing) down the sink.
That got me in trouble.

I have also (by accident) knocked over a polystyrene cup of Alkali and Acid over.
The table is still burnt by that >=). My teacher now doesn't use the phrase 'Even Coll can do this experiment'.

I have mucked up chemistry experiments a google times over. >=).
Timberwolf

My brother is the benchmark for chemistry disasters.

he did 1st year chemistry at University then changed but in that year, he was well in the running for most expensive equipment broken until someone eclipsed him right at the end by breaking a 2 million machine.

My favourite Rob moment though was in GCSE chemistry. He was meant to be making Carbon Dioxide. Nice, safe, inert gas, collect in in a gas syringe, test it, no worries, right ? Right ?????

Not at all. My idiot brother has been busy making hydrogen and siphoning it from the gas syringe into a coke bottle for later experimentation.

The teacher calls the class over. Rob and his lab partner had left a full syringe of hydrogen with the end of the hose near the Bunsen Burner. It detonates, showers the whole class with glass and sends the plunger flying accross the room to miss the teacher's head by maybe a foot.

Still makes me laugh.
Moozy

Oooh that reminds me, some kids got suspended from their graduation ceremony in my school for letting off a couple of stinkbombs. Long story short, it smells like rotten eggs in that room now, and my eyes were watering when I left.

Also, question: How do you make that little subtitle under your username?
Timberwolf

Nip over to the custom title thread and try and get 10 votes for whatever. People may not suggest what you want though.
Moozy

Hi again, just because there's already been some confusion from more than one person: I use Moozy for just about everything, but I wasn't using it until after I made the account Blood (after a Town character some of you have come to *cough* love) on GitP. So most of you wouldn't recognize me, but Moozy's been me all along.
atreyu_the_masked_llama

*huggles da Moozy* I missed that cat
Moozy

*huggles*

Just don't hug Orange Zergling. It may be cute, but it bites.
wxdruid

The high temperature today was 111F/44C. BLEH
Exachix

Woa.

That's high... poor gwennie.

Get cooler soon.
wxdruid

The only coolness I find is in air conditioned buildings. It won't get cool here until after I leave.
atreyu_the_masked_llama

*hugs Gwen* "We miss you over here."

*realizes that a wool sweater hug probably doesn't help the heat problem and backs off looking embarrassed.*
wxdruid

I'm half way done with my tour over here.

And you know what? It's almost time for me to get off work for the night and it's still 97F outside. It's almost midnight....
Moozy

You think that's hot? Try being covered in fur, black fur, and walking into that temperature. Mad
Orange Zergling

Being native to the volanic planet of Char, Zerglings are naturally adapted to the heat, as well as the vacuum and cold of Space.

Now, falling into lava and magma is a different story, but around it... no prob'.
Darkblade

I'm not well adapted to heat. Being Canadian and used to 4-5 month long winters.
Destro Yersul

I hate heat. I consider anything over 13 Degrees Celsius uncomfortable, and anything over 15 Degrees Celsius Hot.

Cold I can deal with. Which is why my absolute favourite place at the DQ I work for is the meat freezer.

Yeah, I'm Canadian too Very Happy
Orange Zergling

IRL, I'm Minnesotan, so we get cold winters. I'd rather be cold than hot, so I like it that way. If only we got more snow. =/
The Chilli God

I can handle heat. Not much of it, though - at 28C, it starts getting uncomfortable, and I don't think I've ever experienced temperatures hotter than that.
Cold? Not as such handling capabilities. It might have something to do with me refusing to ever wear more than three layers of clothing (even then, two's the norm for winter), but at 10C, I find it hard to type or do much else, my fingers are so numb.

Oh yeah, we so owned Canada in rugby today. Ka Mate and such. *Does this crazy little challenge dance*
Darkblade

I don't mind the cold or heat at all but I hate snow, you likely would to after shoveling out an achre of drive way by hand because the snowblower broke again.
wxdruid

I hate the heat and prefer the cold.

and the funny thing is, when I get a choice....I'd still rather wear black despite the heat.
Shadow of the Sun

Ladies, Gentlemen.

I would like to profess my love for Michael Hedges, an excellent musician who died before his time.

Jitterboogie is an excellent song. I wish I could play it.
Exachix

wxdruid wrote:

I always wear trousers and a shirt no matter what. No shorts for me >=).

Shadow, learn to play it =P.
Shadow of the Sun

It's a nigh impossible piece to learn without the sheet music, because of the way Michael played- always in alternate tunings, multiple notes at once, weird strumming patterns.

Also, it is nigh impossible to find tabs of his stuff, so even if I could learn it off of tabs I'd need to spend ages finding one first.
wxdruid

I remembered how to play Mist, by Manheim Steamroller and I don't have the music here with me in Iraq. So I was quite happy. I like that song.
Shadow of the Sun

Cool!

I like Mist by John Butler. I don't know if they have any similarities whatsoever, but if it is named Mist, it has to rock.
wxdruid

Yes, Mist is also a weather term, I'm rather fond of weather terms...

One of my other favorite songs is Rain, by Suzanne Ciani.
Shadow of the Sun

Well, I have an obsession with purple, so I really like Purple Haze by Jimi Hendrix.

One of my favourites by him, along with Voodoo Child and his cover of All Along The Watchtower.
wxdruid

for some odd reason, each time I come to the desert, it reminds me of Dune.
Alarra

For some odd reason? I would think that it's perfectly understandable, perhaps even expected to be reminded of Dune when you're in a desert. I mean...Arrakis is a desert planet for crying out loud. I would certainly be thinking Dune while in the desert. I think. I mean, I've never been to a desert, so I don't really know what I would be thinking, but I think that I would be thinking Dune anyway. okay...*shuts up*

Oh...and I hate hot and much prefer cold as well.
wxdruid

yeah, and especially now, since I work in a palace with lots of marble and columns everywhere.
Alarra

Oooh, that must be cool. *has always wanted to work in a palace...er...I mean, live in a palace. I wouldn't really want to work.*
wxdruid

It does have pretty good a/c.
J. Muller

So, you know what's a fun word to say?

Phlogiston.
Moozy

There are some better words.

...That I can't think of right now. Uhh...anyone else care to actually put effort into coming up with one? I'm braindead in the morning.
atreyu_the_masked_llama

If you're going to say this word, you have to say it like the Crypt Lord in Warcraft III: Frozen Throne. Cool
Shadow of the Sun

I can say Illidan's monologue from the Burning Crusade opening in that exact voice.

It's tasty.

Shadow of the Sun wrote:

Tasty like delicious cake?
Shadow of the Sun

Indubitably.
J. Muller

Glomp, I find, is fun as well.
Orange Zergling

I used to be able to recite the entirety of the Soul Reaver II intro... haven't watched it lately though, I forgot in which order some lines come in... might still be able to recite the SR1 intro, though. I can also recite the entirety of Crimson King by Demons & Wizards. That's as far as my reciting skillz reach, though. I have a bad memory.
The Chilli God

Funnily enough, my memory can remember everything except names. So I have a rather easy time quoting quotes correctly. Complete with funny accents.

My favorite quotes tend to come from Invader Zim. For example:

"I'm the only one here with the technology to decode the files!"
"And we're the only ones here with the files to be decoded!"
"And I'm... Nye-hah! heehoohoo, I don't know!"
"Your base, our disk, Zim. Let us see the base."
"As soon as we destroy Tak, I'm gonna feed your brains to my robot."
"Deal."
"Yaaaaaaaaaay, Brains!"
Moozy

I have a very good memory when it comes to something I enjoy - I could tell you anything you need to know about WoW, and I haven't even been playing it constantly for 6 months or so.

Sadly, when it comes to schoolwork, I actually have to study to commit things to memory, like normal people. Unless, rarely, we're actually learning something that sounds fun or at least important to know about.
wxdruid

I hate booms in the middle of the night
J. Muller

Mortars?
wxdruid

possibly, and some of them rock my trailer a little....I don't like those ones.
Moozy

I remember when I slept in a trailer while visiting family ... long story short, I respect your preferences Gwen but really dislike trailers myself.

A raccoon or a squirrel or something was trying to burrow under the trailer all night. The sound was scary at first, but then it was just annoying, and I got like two hours of sleep that night.
