Random Chat II

You guys know the drill. Or lack of one.
Xaspian

So, I nearly took part in a multi battle (2 teams of 2 players, each with a squad of 3) in pokémon pearl(/diamond) today. We were winning, too, when the wireless connection failed. It failed again the second time...

Also - "Bite my shiny metal ass".

Nope. Sad
Orange Zergling

Just finished Portal after leaving it alone for a while.

Damn awesome game. Clever, funny, challenging, and has sooo much potential for custom maps. And Still Alive is perhaps the best song ever.

Evar.
Xaspian

I have a save file just before the song... so I can listen to it whenever I want.

I'm also stuck on the last Advanced map... Still, I agree with your assessment of the game. Worth buying, I feel.
Kyrian

I youtubed the song, so I can listen to it whenever I want.

I have the song on iTunes, so I can listen to it whenever I want, without having to touch my 360.
Castaras

What is this awesometastic song you're all raving about?
Magtok

This -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6ljFaKRTrI
Castaras

Oh, that one.

Kinda nice. Not really that exciting or interesting though...
Xaspian

It's the context of the game, though, that makes it more interesting, probably.
Kyrian

Maybe Black Mesa...
That was a joke
haha

I just taught my first maths lesson today.

Words fail me.
Artemis

What sort of math were you teaching? And is that the good sort of word failing or the bad?
Timberwolf

Infant's maths. To a horde of 5 - 7 year olds.

And it was bad, definately bad.
blackout

Wow. I don't envy you.
Artemis

Oh my goodness. You must have the patience of a saint.
Timberwolf

I'm teaching it tomorrow and Thursday as well.

What they lack in ability, they make up for in enthusiasm.

WHeeeeeee !!!!!!!!
Orange Zergling

New desktop. I like pictures like this. Where fire's been replaced by water, I mean. I've only seen this technique done to a match and a lighter before, but they were not as cool as this.

Spoiler:

But I was stupid and didn't save the original pic. Ah well.
Artemis

That's pretty awesome. Very Happy

Have you tried making all your dektop icons hidden and having the toolbar auto-hide? (That, of course, assumes Vista'll be happy to still let users do that...) Then just move the cursor off to the ide of the sscreen and Print Screen it. It wouldn't be the original, but it would be a back-up copy of it...

So....Kendra and I come out of the Salt Lake Airport...there are two sections for pickup, the first few lanes are for rental car companies and hotels, then there is an island where people can wait to be picked up by family and friends. Kendra and I cross at the crosswalk, about 10 steps onto the island we hear a crash. I turn around, a shriners hospital van (I believe with just a driver) is coming backwards over the island onto the section for pick up by rental car companies, he takes out a smart cart stand and then hits a truck....in the crosswalk where we JUST were. The van hits the truck right about on the passenger door at an angle and sort of slides along it, crunching it. The truck only had one person in it, in the drivers side. From watching it all in slow motion, the van must have been having some kind of problem, although how it got over the curb? over the island? to the crosswalk where we just were? I have no idea. If my mom had powerpoint I would draw you a crude picture, but she doesn't. From what I could see, no one was hurt, just surprised.

Needless to say....Kendra got quite upset and that's about when my parent's came to pick us up and we finally left the airport.

In other new...I was probably on FOX news in IL this morning, they interviewed me at the airport.
Orange Zergling

Yay, I got AI installed on this computer again.

Also, we're edging closer and closer, albeit slowly, to dual-booting XP. Should be up by Christmas... Very Happy
Uberblah

So I'm flipping channels and what do I come across? A Shrek Christmas special on ABC. And to top it all off, it's all the original stars doing the voiceovers. I am happy! Smile
Lord Vader

I've been watching the Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles on YouTube for the past few weeks. It has inspired me to start up the miniature game, I just love the look of the stuff and the "clean" sci-fi is a refreshing break from the "DOOM! WE'RE ALL WALKING DEAD PEOPLE!" atmosphere/appearance of 40k. Razz
Flabbicus

Starship Troopers?? Who's talking about Heinlein?
Lord Vader

Well, it's not the Heinlein-style troopers, but it's still a good show. Very Happy
Artemis

I saw that christmas special! It was pretty funny, actually. The Gingerbread man was running away from Santa. XD
Uberblah

I like Puss's story when he stops in the middle and plays with the ornament.
Kyrian

*clutches stomach*

Oooooohhhhh....

My sweet sweet Mt. Dew turned against me....
McBish

So I had random girl come into my room last night and try to get in bed with my roommate.  We found this funny.  We asked her if she was in the right room, she responded "I think so."  Then when we told her the room number she said "Oh shit" and ran from the room.  Fun stuff.  Better then my last uninvited nightime visitor.
Wukei

Wow...slut...

The random white dots are snowflakes, they float down the screen in the month of december on that forum. It's nifty.
Wukei

Aw crap...I coulda beat that, but I deleted my neomail....
Orange Zergling

Truth to be told I've probably seen worse too, but I don't screen-shot every post of every forum I've ever seen... of course, I've never been on aim, aol, yahoo, msn, or any other notorious English-slaughterhouses.

So today I had a Forensics (Speech) tournament. I do Original Comedy for it and today I got in a tie for 4th out of 40-50 others in the same event. In my rounds I got two 2nd places and a ? in my 3rd round because my 3rd round critique sheet was lost. My team overall got 5th out of 20-25 schools at the tournament. Needless to say I am happy right now. Plus one of my favorite Christmas movies is on, The Santa Clause.
The Herald

I am bummed. My dad and I had to move out of the house, and we're house-sitting for my grandparents while they go on a vacation. Unfortunately, my laptop can't get any wireless reception at their house, and they're still on dial-up, so I can't download the torrent of the latest episode of Gundam 00.
Sad

Also, I have diarrhea.  Crying or Very sad
Orange Zergling

@^ Youch, I hate Diarrhea... (and not just because it's the hardest word to spell I've ever seen...)

So, except for no sound, and needing to install everything, XP is fully operational on my computer now.

I... I promised myself I wouldn't  cry. :')

I technically still do... but I'm never opening that... hellspawn unless for some reason I decide to buy a Vista-only game.

Honestly, whoever designed that OS needs to be strung up and shot. Then slashed with ten thousand little paper-cuts and dipped into a big bowl of rubbing alcohol.

You need to listen to this.  It's beautiful!
Uberblah

*is awestruck* That is absolutely beautiful! I like how he talks in the middle to prove it's really him.
Wukei

I don't think that's why he does it...talking is part of the song, and I don't think he can do a high voice, just a high singing voice (which is absolutely different.)
Uberblah

It is part of the song? It's been years since I've seen that movie.
Wukei

Yea...I'm a big Disney fan...(though Dreamworks is better.)

It's one of their best songs.
Deadly

Wow, now I feel like I should start practicing some more.

Fascinating.
Orange Zergling

YouTube is weird... I just went from a Dragonforce (yes, dragonforce, shush) song, to a roller coaster emergency stop, to harry potter puppet pals.

Wtf?
Uberblah

Dragonforce is pretty good, IMO. And HP puppet pals are hillarious.

PANTALONIOUS POOPICUS!
Shadow of the Sun

DragonForce get boring after you realize they use the same riff and same solo in every song.

It's my birthday, YAY!

IMO they're actually pretty good, but yeah, most of their songs are pretty much the same.

Happy birthday.

Happy birthday and all of that nice stuff. Now we just need to find a cake big enough for Vael to fit in for you.

I'm putting up the tree.

Bingle Jells, Bingle Jells...

Wolfie is officially christmassy.
Wukei

I wish we had a real tree...I don't feel quite right putting up that little white one.  Though I put it up cuz it's my mom's favourite, put the peacocks all over it, and put their presents under it.  Glad the presents are small...
Timberwolf

We have a fake on but it's green. Mum got fed up of the pine needles from a real one.

Now to buy presents. I refuse to buy presents before 1st of December as a 1 man assault on commercialism.
Wukei

Mmm...I buy presents starting in June.  Sometimes earlier if I find something good.
Timberwolf

And we have a green light and a yellow light and a red light and a blue light.

yes, the fairy lights work and no bulbs have gone.

Go me !!
atreyu_the_masked_llama

Happy Birthday, Dave.

Go trees!!!
Lykan

Alright... I gotta finish over 50 semi-complicated avatars in a little over 2 weeks.

This should be interesting.
Exachix

=S.

Good Luck Lykan.
Artemis

Does anyone remember that old nickelodeon show All That? Do you remember the skit with the Loud Librarian? I think she's moved to my college's library.

People walk in, they talk, yeah they're a little loud, occasionally some one's cell phone might accidentally go off, but this lady yells, so the entire building can hear, for everyone to be quiet. She just went on a five minute rant at this one group of kids. I'm doing my best not to laugh at the sheer irony of the situation.
Madmal

All that? nope, i didn't had Nickelodeon during that time..

i remember " Legends of the Lost Temple" though....
Artemis

Very Happy I loved that show! Especially Olmec, the big stone face, he was cool.
ValdisRequiem

Ah, gods, I loved nineties Nickelodeon.
Rocko's Modern Life and Doug made my day when I was younger.
And Double Dare. I loved that show...
Kyrian

Legends of the Hidden Temple.

Are You Afraid of the Dark.

All That.

Keenan and Kel.

Animorphs (yes, I watched some of it. I love the books. My first story I ever wrote is set as a sequel)
ValdisRequiem

Ky, you did an Animorphs sequel, too?
I feel as if I don't need to be so ashamed of myself xD
Kyrian

Yea, I'm thinking of putting it up on collectiveheights.

but warning...the writing style SUCKS.

I wrote all 26 some pages back Jr. year of high school, and reading through it the other night, I can see how I've grown with writing.
ValdisRequiem

Haha, mine was from seventh grade. I threw all of it out some time ago, as it was written in old school notebooks.
Kyrian

Oh no.

I have like ALL my stories.

I'm thinking of putting them all up on CH.

Not sure.
Wukei

I finished a novel when I was sixteen...

Then the dogs promptly ate it...or at least tore it up...

I didn't get a computer for myself until I was 18, so I worked via notebook.  I still normally carry one with me just in case I have an idea.  I also have my harddrive with me if I'm going to be staying with a friend, so I can just pull up my files wherever I am.
Kyrian

I'm scared to put my stories on my laptop now...I lost a lot of ideas when it crashed the first time. ;-;

And then it crashed a second time....

But moving my ideas from paper to CH? I like that.
Wukei

I'm not too afraid of the computer crashing...more happens to paper around here than harddrives.
Kyrian

I'll probably still be typing most of the stories up, because I want, especially for some, to get the whole story posted on CH before I let whoever wants to (likely Nicole...) comment.
ValdisRequiem

Cause I read peoples stuff...cause I'm awesome like that.
I'm sort of one of those people who admire all forms of art, but am mediocre in my own practice.
Doesn't mean I can apprectiate good art/writing when I find it, though.
Kyrian

I'm still trying to figure out what went on through my head as I wrote some of this stuff back Jr. and Sr. Year.

I mean, Animorphs, Gunslinger (Dark Tower Series), AND Saiyan!?

What was I on?
Madmal

probably the same than me when i used to draw silly extra stages of the Beast Wars game....
ValdisRequiem

Aw, man, I loved Beast Wars. Silverbolt FTW. I had the toy of him ^^
There was a game?
Timberwolf

What wasn't there a game of ?
Kyrian

The Dark Tower series.
Madmal

ValdisRequiem wrote:

yeah, the first game when my legacy of "i've never finished a game" started.

Rattrap and Dinobot were awesome. I got a lot of toys of them (even that big transmetal Optimus Primal). I still got them in a box under my bed, though most ofthem either have parts missing or broken.
ValdisRequiem

I was pretty depressed when my Silverbolt's leg broke off somewhere that I never found. I think he was my first cartoon crush, cause I was pissed when he ended up with Arachnia.
Timberwolf

Ok, here's one for you all. Who remembers Captain Simian and the Space Apes ? Or is this my faulty memory again ?
Madmal

in my case it was the animal-form claw of my Grimlock toy (a white Dinobot recolor).

I never got that fuzor toy. I just got one and it was an Elephant/Orca Whale hybrid. quite sturdier, and with a water gun.  Smile

Timberwolf wrote:

Holy crap...i didn't. Until you wrote that.

probably one of the first shows i saw on CN about the space theme. the orangutan had multiple personalities, right?
Wukei

I remember my first cartoon crush...

Tuxedo Kamen (Tuxedo Mask)...though I was pissed when they made him the Moonlight Knight.

It was the first anime I watched that I knew was an anime.  I'd owned Warriors of the Wind (Nausicaa) long before that.
ValdisRequiem

My first crush on a girl cartoon character came from Sailor Moon =D
Sailor Mars.
Kyrian

Goku. Hands down. He's everything I wish I could be.
Timberwolf

Never really had a thing for any cartoon character. I dunno, I just one day played Mechwarrior and I was home, my anime watching would be forever affected.
Wukei

Hm...the first anime character I wished I could be...

The first one?  Nausicaa
The first I knew was anime? Mars
ValdisRequiem

The first anime character I wanted to be was Sora from Digimon. That's right- Digimon.
I loved that show so much, I made multiple original characters.
She was so cool >w<
