Quote of the Day

Every day (I am on) I will make a post to make people feel better about themselves. I find that too many people are losing self esteem, here, and letting others help them drop it.

Today's comes from one of the most well known first ladies...Mrs Anna Eleanor Roosevelt:

"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."
Uberblah

YAY!! A feel-good thread! We need one of these to counteract the depression thread. Thanks Wukei!
Artemis

Hmm...Happy thoughts? How about...

EXPLODING CAKE!

On now?!
Artemis

Sadly no... I don't think so. It was from last night I think. Fireworks in a cake. All sorts of fun. Also I'd like to add the flaming pillar of bubbles from Mythbusters, because that was six kinds of awesome. No that's not on now either. Sorry.
Wukei

But can probably be looked up on youtube.com

TO YOUTUBE!!! AWAAAAYYYY!!! *puts fist on hip and points finger of other hand toward the horizon*

ARRRGGHHH!!! That song's been stuck in my head for days!! DAMN YOU LYKAN!!!

And I can't find the Food Network exploding cake or the Mythbusters burning bubbles on YouTube.

Ah, not exactly a quote, but a story that will make people smile and look on the good side of life.

I normally try to, but I admit that in the middle of this story, I had lost hope.

We'd left a little female guinea pig in with her daddy too long and she got pregnant. She just recently had 3 pretty babies. Due to complications, two of them died. But how she doted on her last one. I had dubbed him Rudolph, as he had unusually long legs like a reindeer, has a red nose, and "she called me cuuuuutttteeee."

Well, we let the ferrets out of their cage for the day, left because I had an interview for a job, and when we come home, I find that Rudolph is missing from his cage. Ferrets are predators, guinea pigs prey. After I couldn't find him in every single spot in the room that a guinea pig can hide (his mother followed my every movement back and forth in her cage), I had given up hope of ever finding him alive.

That night we had a terrible storm (we believe what happened next was a miracle.) We lost our power. Normally, over the TV and the fan, we would hear nothing, especially my mother who's practically deaf. But she heard a slight squeaking over at the entertainment center. Dad grabbed the flashlight and went to check. There was Rudolph, alive and well. They brought him into my room for me to see that he was okay. Then he had to go home to his mother so she could dote on him and care for him.

Dad has installed "rubber baby buggy bumpers," since. We have bungee cords surrounding the cage so he cannot possibly fall out again.

No it's not. If it was, you wouldn't be so pissed right now.

Don't worry, be happy.
Uberblah

Ok, it was stuck in my head for days. I had just got it out Tuesday I think. AND NOW IT'S BACK!! Evil or Very Mad B******!! *grumble*
Wukei

No bad thoughts! HAPPY THOUGHTS!!!!
Uberblah

*hangs head and frowns*

Sorry, Wukei...
Wukei

You never clapped for tinkerbell, did you?

CLAP FOR THE FAERIES! (Not making fun of you life choices SotS ^.~)

If we can't laugh about ourselves occasionally, we'll only cry. I'd rather laugh.
Uberblah

But that's nothing to laugh about. For a day or two, a song is ok, but after weeks it gets annoying. And having it come back after just getting rid off it a few days earlier is just horrible.

And I wanted to be Peter Pan when I was 3-5. I didn't want to grow up.
Wukei

Heck, I was Peter Pan.

In college, I was Hook (and my Smee was an idiot...where was he to cower when I asked "...who says that his hook isn't cute?"...in the friggin back of the stage...)

I love singing. I would have gotten into musical theatre if it weren't for my back, but I still have plenty of other things I can do. Think about the positives, not the negatives ^.~

I was one of the most popular people on stage when I played Hook.
Uberblah

I may not be able to sing or dance, but I can act. I was on my highschool's forensics team this year and i got at least 5th at each competition. Thought there were only four competitions for novices... oh well.
Orange Zergling

Maybe this will redeem my earlier one...

"You can not always have happiness, but you can always give happiness." - Anonymous.

Our quote today comes from Johann Wolfgang von Goethe:

"Who is the happiest of men? He who values the merits of others, and in their pleasure takes joy, even as though 'twere his own."
Wukei

Another of Anna Eleanor Roosevelt's:

"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."
Artemis

Ooo That's a nice one.
Wukei

I'm awake...*searches quickly for quotes*

From Henry David Thoreau:
"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined."
Artemis

I have a picture frame with that quote engraved on it. I got it for my graduation.
