Of Demons and Dinosaurs [closed]

Heya folks.

I will be running a premade adventure path called Savage Tide, which is a series of... *checks* I think eleven adventures, which would bring the characters from the first to the twentieth level over its course.

Over the course you will encounter pirates, jungles islands, demons, dinosaurs, the abyss, and really twised monkeys, among other things as a sort of preveiw.

The rules:

- 3.5 rules.
- All books except Forgotten realms are acceptable. Stuff from Urban Arcana... Show me first, then I'll deside if it's good to use or not.
- Players start on 1st level.
- Players may use either or 34 point buy to calculate their abilities.
- Looking for 2 more players, though this number may go up, considering that I haven't gotten an absolute yes from the two others I've asked to play
- I will be playing a PC too. I like this adventure too much to be left out. >.>

If you have access to Dragon magazine, I must ask that you either not look into this adventure path, or not participate at all. Thank you.

I am interested, but a few disclaimers.

#1 - I am a complete D&D newbie. I only played once in person.
#2 - I own no sourcebooks nor have the resources at the moment to buy them.

That being said, I have been interested in trying my hand at D&D. I will gladly pass over a spot for more experienced players, but if you will be willing to give me a hand to learn the ropes, I would be interested in playing.

1st to 20th. Wow. I'm interested.

Oh. Yeah. I've already said I'm interested over IM.

Anywho, I plan on playing a Dragon Shaman. (For those of you without the PHB II, he kinda fits in the Bard slot. Makes Auras that help people out).

And the likelyhood is great that I will be playing a divine character... Though if someone wants that role, I can switch to something else.

What roles might be needed? I usually play rogues, but I was thinking a Monk might be interesting.

Pwenet - I hate to say to not include you... But I'd rather have people who know how to play. Sorry. : (

Artemis - The roles still needed to be filled are anything but the main combatants... We already have one (maybe two) already...

I may be playing a Divine class, but I don't need to if someone else wants the role.

Aeiou ! Looks interesting. Hmm, I'll roll at IC. I want to play someone that become a Chameleon (RoD). Oh, I need some outrageously good stats ...

Hmm, know what, this is exactly a 34 points equivalent. Fascinating. Maybe I should take the point buy to min/max better.

And/or don't play a future Chameleon. But what ? Need some time to think ...

We already have two combatants in the group...

1) Uh, would a third combatant be so horrible then ?

Players Guide to Faerϋn (updates the 3.0 FR stuff to 3.5 and has some other "new" stuff, like i.e. "lesser" LA +0 versions of aasimar, drow, duergar, svirfneblin, tieflings).

Actually... I hate to say this, but we need to fill three other roles here, and I need to boot one of you three...

So... Considering Artemis has claimed rogue, skill monkey is filled...

Both Vael and Wukei have Combat characters, though since we have 5 characters, that still works.

And Moozy... Well, he hasn't decided anything, which is likely goingto get him booted. (sorry, mate. nothing personal)

So you have the choice of being the Divine character or the Caster character, Amiria.

Uh, Lykan, what do you play ?

By Caster, do you mean Wizard or Sorcerer ? Or would a Bard also suffice ?

Wouldn't the Divine character slot be more important ? The group seems to lack healing magic ... best would be a Cleric ... although a Bard can also heal a bit.

I will be playing whatever you don't.

And if you consider a bard a caster on par with a Sorceror and Wizard... Be my guest. Bad quite honestly, I don't advise it.

In truth, I've never had a very high opinion of bards. >.>

Ok, then I'll play Mirage in the Arcane Caster slot as an arcanist/buff bunny and try to raise your opinions of bards. Very Happy So you can play Divine, oh mighty DM god.

Hm. I can see this kinda going bad if we're relying on just a bard for arcane magic.

Cleric... Or Druid....


A cleric with the right domains and Spontaineous Domain Casting for both domains (one from the alternative class feature (PHBII) and the other from the feat in Complete Divine) could make up a bit for the lack of a true arcanist. Hmm, Time and Travel domains ... Wink

There is also the option that instead of going thug, I could use a Battle Sorcerer variant.

*shrug* If you don't need me, I don't mind. It seems like you might need a main caster, though. Wukei and Vael are melee combatants, Artemis is a rogue, Amiria's a buffer, and you're a cleric, is that about right? If you're willing to accept a 6th character, I'd play a wizard or sorcerer.

Moozy, I'll tell you if we need one...

You guys need to be sure on what you want to be before I can accurately choose a class to best fit the group.

Okay, two things...

- We will be using Action Points. Rules for them can be found here.

- I will want some sort of backstory... It doesn't have to be long or complicated, but it has to have some essence as to why someone would want to hire the character for some sort of service.

The city this starts out in is called Sasserine. It's real world equivelent is probably Venice, if that helps at all.

So, regarding you PM, someone seeks out our characters to hire them for some adventuring ? Is that how it starts ? So I'd had to think about why that someone thinks that Mirage is fit for the job ?

And yes, her mum is also a bard. It found out that bards are good for drow, their Inspire buffs are all supernatural so they don't conflict with spell resistance. And with the Subsonics feat they can do it all very stealthy. Although those things won't be important for Mirage.

Yeah, basically. Though related to a talented adventurer might be enough for her to get the job, if that makes it any easier.

Okeydoke, it's fine... Though you may want to change the attack on the Sling and Thrown Knife... It uses Dexterity for attack, not Strength.

Damage is right, though...
