Great Moments in Town History

...From your point of view, at least.

This is the place to share what you consider to be true highlights of roleplaying in Town, both Old and New, Modern, Sci-Fi, Mirror, Meta, or Hamlet. What were those events in the life of Town that you will always remember and/or cherish?

No, I am not planning on using this thread for some ulterior purpose. Don't even ask. _
The Herald

Hmmm... Iames's redemption of Vael, Vael's ultimate betrayal and defeat, the Iames-Vera-Aerin romance, Iames the Dark's reign of terror, and the election of Iames to the council.
Artemis

What are you planning Chilli? *tee-hee*

Hmm...from Old Town, Admiral Kelly ran a small plot, having his character, Lori, get kidnapped by demons. My Raril, and a few other people, tried to rescue her. She died in his arms. I was close to tears.

More recently, Rebonack's town wide snowball fight was a lot of fun to play, maybe not the best reading, but it's the only snowball fight I've ever been in.

I might come up with more things later.
Shadow of the Sun

This thread is incomplete unless you mention the Mortia-Lykan fight that basically started the whole shebang.
Deadly

When the mirror world was discovered, and everyone played there and came up with mirrors for their characters. That was an awesome period, I think, perhaps one of the greatest times I've had in Town so far.

As for "smaller" events... Vael's "Masters" plot was awesome once it got started. The retaking of El J's ship, even though I managed to join that right at the end and miss most of the fun. Fenric's Ravenloft adventure(s) were a lot of fun too. The Winterhearth plot too. Just generally following the goings on in the Temple of Inari, it's mirror and Winterhearth has been crazy at times.

And I'm sure there's a thousand other events I could mention.
Timberwolf

The Booze Golem fight as immortalised by Hawkeye.
Darkblade

...my first time in Town and still the best time in Trog's I ever had. When District first apeared to get Czar/Tom to recruit Darkblade to KNAVES. (I still don't know if I should have been able to pick up that sombreo.)

...The April Fool's day bombing.

...The Fourth Empire and their invasion of The Police Station and then KNAVES traitor Darkblade breaking out of the Station.

...State torturing Darkblade in the Scar to make him rejoin KNAVES. Oddly enough when recently reading the last few chapters of 1984 where the main Character was tortured I was reminded of this.
Obsidian Blade

So many to choose from... but let's see...

I think that Gent, Jacky (or whatever his name is now...) and Aesa's trials in Kathairein belong here. Not as large scale as the multiple invasions or KNAVES, but they're some of the finest examples of roleplaying that I've seen in Town.
Shadow of the Sun

I'd like to say I could take credit for those three trials but really, those were really good due to Vael and Sophistemon's roleplaying skill. I was humbled.

Now. The Church of the Seed. Some of the most interesting characters I've seen, followed up by one of the best plots I've seen.
nightwing

Back in the old town when I used to be just my character tereal playing with book boys character shadow bow. That was the only  plot I ever had at that point. I don't think we ever actually captured the bad guy... The sheezo- lanno romance from the old tow was buy far my favorite plot ever. I was moved to tears a few times during that...
Castaras

The arguments between Ilvari and the 'Midget Patrol'. =D Still annoyed how I forgot to save those conversations...

But the conversation I did save...Myobi(I think....Will check later to see who it was. =P) and the Kitten's conversation.
Timberwolf

You could bring Ilvari back (with pyjamas).

There you go, my favourite Ilvari moment. http://www.giantitp.com/forums/sh...&highlight=ilvari#post2257021
Castaras

With pyjamas. Of course. =D

Maybe will soon... If school decides to not be a pain. >.<

atreyu_the_masked_llama

I  don't wish to get into specificsright now.  Later I will, but for me the best Town moments are the silly ones that made me laugh.  Plots are neat, but I can et those playing D&D.  Its the interaction between such a diverse cast of characters that really makes Town special and its those moments that stick in my mind and soul.
Uberblah

I'd have to agree with the llama. I don't have any examples, but all the character interaction is great. It's what overall made me come back.
Dartonus

In my opinion, one of the best is Krall and TPB escaping custody.

... from inside their cells.

... by killing themselves so they would respawn on their home planes.

... and then stirring up trouble all over again. That's the whole reason there's now an anti-violence field in the cells, BTW.
ValdisRequiem

My own personal favorite (and this may just be because it was Hitomi) in GitP TOwn was when Regina slept with Raril, leading Hitomi to the breaking point, whereupon she ripped her own heart out and Llama nearly flipped out.
And then, AK's Alex, who was possessed by Dart, dragged Hitomi off to have Alex kill her...and she ended up saving the man she hated =D
Alarra

My personal favorite? Hoseki..er Vadaha? and Brin searching for Zebras...actually, any interaction between the two of them...even when she ate the llama.
atreyu_the_masked_llama

Some moments that still make me laugh involving the llama and various others include:

The Rescue of Trog from Dionysus' Realm: Atreyu accidently gets drunk and wanders off with a Succullama.

The Aftermath of the Rescue aka ruining the game of Risk for Libris. :  Atreyu wakes up in Trog's wearing a bit and muzzle and with "stuff" shaved into his wool much to Kantur's and Libris' amusement.

Atreyu vs Galahad the Pure in Trog's : In which an angry knight of the Round Table chases down a mischievous llama with a rolled up newspaper.

Atreyu vs Indurain in the Ethereal Plane: Indurainamania ran wild all over the poor llama, but we had fun doing it.

Atreyu visits the Toss and Roll: During the time that Libris was a half-dragon, Atreyu becomes worried about her after seeing her upset in Trog's.  He goes to the slums to check up but becomes lost and stumbles into a building looking for aid.

...hehehehehe.
I still remember that time. It was fun. Very fun.
"Pink."
*giggles*
Kyrian

I recall that one too, with Ares "playing Risk" with one of the many nymphs there...

"Conquer me!"
Fenric

Both Dionysus parties were fun.  The second certainly changed pretty much everything about my characters.

The Taking of the Liza Jane is probably my favorite.  I still have it archived on my computer.

Giving Sneak the alignment-changing amulet that made him Lawful Good, and then going on the quest to get his god-powers back was fun, too.

Wow, that was a long time ago. It was one of the only things I did with my first character that I remember fondly.
Lykan

When Deme, Antony, and Mikhail were GB'd.

And Deme ended up staying that way. >.>

That, and when the Bloodchildren were more active.
Hawkeye

Hmm...for me...my most favorite pieces were from long, long ago

The first actual plot in town - Libris and the Drageoth.

My first plot.

Wukei/Hel and Loki - so addictive I stayed up til past daybreak several nights in a row. For months and months.

...and so many more, I've got a folder in my bookmarks linking back to ancient threads that I like.

Boy, not a fun summer for my back. Falling asleep all the time on the floor.
Keledrath

When Shadowbow got a real name after being in use for over a year.  Seriously, I took my time getting him a name, but I think I revealed it with appropriate drama.

E's death.  I used him a lot more in the old town, but he did a lot.  Like, for example, convince Art that having more than one character isn't a crime  Razz .
Lord Vader

-One of Raistlin's characters utterly owning Baron Law, Nightwing's godly-unstoppable character, with two spells. Hilarious. Very Happy

-Raneus hunting down Baron Law, only to find himself unable to so much as injure him.

-Lilith getting kidnapped OVER 9,000! times before their wedding. I swear to God, every time they were about to get married, up ran another kidnapper.

That was. I got so mad at him!
Moxie

-Rex's propaganda Speeches. Based heavily on Cicero and FDR, and, in a small way Embarassed , Hitler, it got everyone in Old Town in gear, and everyone in Enup pissed.
Lord Vader

Well, I speak for myself, but Rex's speeches didn't exactly get me in gear. Wink
Also, apparently he was banned from GitP...no idea why, though. Confused
(Wait, Rex, is that you?)

@Nightwing- Well, it had to happen sometime, and the fact that someone bypassed your godmod armor without breaking a sweat was absolutely <expletive deleted> hilarious. Laughing

*looks at post*
Yyyyyeah, I kinda need to cut back on smilies a little.
Keledrath

Yeah, that's Rex.

Oh, god that was awesome! Deigrian Scourge, Half-Fiend MindFlayer Sorcerer with one eye. Time Stop+Wish. Oh, thank you for reminding me Vader.
PirateMonk

...

Link?
Keledrath

Rais, I hate to be the one to break it to you, but... that wouldn't work if what you did was cast Time Stop then use Wish to permify it.  Time Stop speeds up the caster so that time seems to stop.
Xaspian

Doesn't that depend what version of Time Stop you use? Instead of using a D&D version, which might do what you say, might it not be one that's actually original, and actually does what it says on the tin?
Lord Vader

No, no, you misunderstand.

I believe he used Time Stop in order to ensure Baron Law could not flee, followed by Wish to permanently freeze the Baron.

Lol, no chance of a link, that happened when I joined GitP town. That was probably almost a year ago.
PirateMonk

Do you remember what thread it happened in?

And how did Time Stop help? You have wait for it to stop before you can affect anyone else, unless you use your own version.
Lord Vader

I honestly have no idea what thread it was in.

I may be getting the order mixed up, but that's how I remember it.
nightwing

It was in the streets, but I dont rember the number.
Lord Vader

You sure? I could've sworn it happened in some building.

Regardless, doesn't Time Stop not actually stop time, but just speed you up/slow everyone else down.
PirateMonk

How is this relevant?
Xaspian

I'm still rather proud of the time that me and Artemis managed to fake Raril's death, over in GitP. Draken was the judge at Pelgof's trial (50 NPC murders, and 1 PC murder), with Bookboy as prosecution, and AK providing additional evidence. Turns out that all the deaths, up to and including Raril's, were just very convincing illusions. And that point was made quite clearly throughout. Kinda.

Still, it was fun.

I also liked getting The Pigeon killed, by DeBunny's shadow teddies. That was fun, and memorable for me, at least.
(Don't worry, he got resurrected soon afterwards)
Keledrath

I still hate you for not mentioning that they were illusions, seeing as how there is such a thing as True Seeing, which pierces illusions.
Xaspian

When the NPCs entered the tavern, over several posts, I made it perfectly clear that they were very high quality illusions. While Pelgof 'murdered' them, I constantly mentioned their convincingness, not seeing the need to repeat myself about the fact they were illusions. After all, you don't repeat that Shadowbow is an elf in every post, do you?
Besides, using phrases such as 'The very convincing NPCs are very convincingly shot, and fall to the ground very convincingly' isn't exactly subtle, is it? Saurous managed to pick up that they were illusions, as did some other players.
As for Raril, that was Artemis posting. But I'm pretty sure that she says 'seems to', rather than stating that he does. Besides, the illusions were very convincing. And not entirely imaginary, either. They had genuine visual elements, to help. so MNEAH!

You're just bitter 'cos you lost =
Fenric

Great moments, not great arguments...  please stay on track.
Keledrath

Actually, as I recal, he still got convicted, just not of the murders.  There was still Disturbing the Peace and Contempt of Court.
Xaspian

YEah, well those were fair enough. He did just fake 50 murders so that a trial would happen, to break the boredom...

And sorry if it sounded like I was arguing. It was good fun.

A great moment in Town would have been the Thieves' Guild attack on the Casino... if we'd ever actually managed to do it. Timezones, and deadtime, meant that it went very slowly...
Keledrath

Agreed.  Also, Artemis would have had a better chance if his player wasn't suffering 13itis  Razz .

Yeah, it would've been cool, but you can't have everything.
NecroPaladin

Anyone mention the Church of the Seed?  Okay, I'll mention it.  That plot had it all.  Giant world-threatening tree, grandiose villain that could nevertheless be sympathized with, mismatched team of heroes, droves of enemies, manipulation of plot, closure, EVERYTHING.  It was just honestly a fantastic plot, exemplary of what good the town stands for.
Nevrmore

Okay, so I know it's going to look like I'm repaying Necro for scratching my back, but...

K.N.A.V.E.S., and everything it's done. Honestly, when it started I thought it was kind of a stupid thing, something about voting, but then when I realized an evil organization was the perfect thing to have a budding character (Crucius) enter, I got a lot more enthusiastic about it. It's been a rather awesome thrill ride from then on.
