Enupnion -- The Website

So, for those who don't remember, I made a website for Enupnion.

Now, I'm looking for suggestions on how to improve it, advice you might give to new members of Town, etc.
Wukei

http://enupnion.angelfire.com/FAQ.html

Well, the FAQ is...started...anyone get any questions asked of them?

I'll add the FAQ button to the other pages ASAP.

For the FAQ:

Q. Do I have to know anything about D&D?
A. No. Though some characters use D&D spells, they usually provide an explanation of the spell from the SRD, and if they don't, you can ask for an explanation via PM.

Or something similar to that.
Wukei

Updated and includes 2 new buttons on every page.

If anyone has any suggestions for the tips page, don't be afraid to pipe up.

Q: How does the passage of time work in Town? / What is 'deadtime'?

The passage of time is very flexible in Town. A character can perform actions that might take only a few seconds over a few Real Time days, or they could do an hour's worth of different actions. The main things affecting time are how often players reply to each other, and how much they do in a single post. In all, it's up to you, and what's convenient for your plot.

Deadtime is what happens to characters when their players go offline. They are usually frozen, and others can't interact with them
In some cases, an entire thread can enter deadtime, during a fight or a conversation when one player is offline, and the others wait for her/his return.

Erk, that's just an idea. It probably needs neatening up, and some of the points might be a bit off. But I've had that asked of me before.
Wukei

I did edit it a tad:

Quote:
Q: What is 'deadtime'?
A: Deadtime is what happens to characters when their players go offline. They are usually frozen, and others can't interact with them. (Unless a person is given permission to take over the character while the player is gone.) This can affect a plot if the player's character is necessary in said plot. (Or if they're the one running the plot.)

Q: How does the passage of time work in Town?
A: Though some people play to real time timeframes, the passage of time is very flexible in Town. A character can perform actions that might take only a few seconds over a few Real Time days, or they could do an hour's worth of different actions. The main things affecting time are how often players reply to each other, and how much they do in a single post. In all, it's up to you, and what's convenient for your plot.

That's fine, and looks a bit more helpful than my version.

For the tips page, maybe something about character power levels?  Something like what to do or not to do when trying to make a really strong one, or a god, or somesuch.  Even better, a tip on how to let your character interact with other, more powerful things.  I can see how people might make the mistake of getting mad if they run into a basically invincible character or god that isn't affected by their attacks or efforts.
Wukei

well, that's why I stated that if you get mad, maybe you should take a break from Town.  Reality is a nice thing.

Still, I'll try to think up something in that line.
Wukei

I gave the tips I could...I didn't touch on power levels cuz the stickied note in the directory explains how power levels work.  Plus, there's no one true set system in Town.
Draken Frosthand

I must say a simple thing about power levels.

"The relative power level between two characters is an agreement between their players. Imposing superiority (or inferiority) upon another player is an excelent way of isolating yourself.

However, avoid repeating how powerful/weak your character is. It grows annoying in very short order."
Wukei

I used yours word for word...since I don't really believe in power levels...
Keledrath

I would include a notation in plot-deadtime that continuity can, will, and has been ignored.
Wukei

I did state that the plot will only go to a complete standstill if your character is too important to continue without.
Keledrath

Or if the DM has to leave.  And by that, I meant you could have the character in the plot and elsewhere at the same time if the plot was taking a while.
Wukei

mentioned the creator of the plot, too.  and your second remark has nothing to do with the running of the plot at all, though I might mention something about it.

Two things: My birthday is sep 26. Also, you should change the monthy picter from the in december or people viewing the website that havent joined the town yet will think your not updating the site.
Wukei

If I was running the art of the month and people were actually participating, there would be a monthly winner, but as no one did participate, that's our only winning art piece.  Therefore, it stays.

I'm wondering why the 'About Us' page is titled 'Enupnion Holidays!'.

Also, an idea for a tip:
If there's an issue that you don't know how to resolve, talk to the other players involved. Send them a PM, or contact them another way, explaining the problem, and try to sort out a solution between you.
For example, working out which character is more powerful, deciding what would happen to certain characters if a ritual is interfered with, or even deciding what direction the plot should take. Don't be afraid to talk to your fellow players!

As usual, feel free to re-word as appropriate.
Keledrath

Also, you may want to see about Gabblying the site.  It's a lot faster than PMs.  Xas and I know from experience.  Recent experience.
Xaspian

Yeah, the Enupnion Gabbly Chat thingy is quite handy, and a good way to 'meet' and get to know other Townies. (Although, whether you'd actually want to get to know them is debatable).

Actually, it's cuz I was probably tired and forgot to change the title when I copy/pasted.
Wukei

Although I'm not a huge fan of chat rooms...there you go.

I'm not responsible for anything that happens in the chat room, however.
Keledrath

Alright.  It's just much faster.  Also, you have to clear PMs out every now and then, and the chatroom makes it so that happens less.
