Dice Games

I'm thinking of opening a Casino in Town, but a casino needs games adn I can't always be here to overlook the more classic card games. So I thought dice games, with a little help from Invisible castle, would work out. I've found some Here at the WotC website, and Vaeil suggested Farkle. Some of the WotC games are already designed for betting, and I need ideas for the others to make them fit in the casino. I appreciate all the help, have fun, make suggestions and you might be playing them in Town soon.

So look through the list and pick a game to start playing. Very Happy
Destro Yersul

I like Liar's Dice ((http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liar%27s_dice)), but that of course has the problem of needing to keep the dice hidden. Could work though, if you all PM'd your specific dice rolls to an objective observer.
Artemis

Maybe, but that's sort of the reason I stayed away from card games. I didn't want to bother with the observer thing. Maybe just spoiler the rolls? *shrugs* anyways who feels like playing a game? *looks at list* let's start with... Wishing Well. It's on the Top and it's actually a betting game. We all get ten coins to start, who wants to play a few quick rounds?
Destro Yersul

I'll play.

And as for liar's dice, the observer wouldn't really have to do anything. Just make sure everyone's posted rolls match with the PM'd rolls. I'd do it, if no one else wanted to.
Artemis

Ok, should we wait for a few others? And I'm liking the idea of Liar's Dice more and more. It wouldn't be too hard for someone to verify the rolls.
Destro Yersul

I guess so. Maybe another one or two? Which is why Liar's dice is good. All you'd have to do is come in at the end of a round and have a look. Ok, rolls are good, X wins, next round!
Artemis

Destro, you rock. I hadn't even thought of that. It's really perfect isn't it?
Destro Yersul

Thank you. Very Happy It is a cool game, made cooler by the whole bluffing thing going on. Does he have that extra five? What if it's a one, and I can bet my sixes?
Fenric

I'll give it a try.
Artemis

Awesome. Very Happy Ok everyone starts with ten coins and gets assigned a number, or since we have three people playing, Two numbers. All you need to do is roll 3 d6s and put in coins if your number turns up. First one to lose all their coins wins.

Me: 1,4
Destro: 2,5
Fenric: 3,6

There are your numbers. I guess I'll start.

1d6=3, 1d6=6, 1d6=3
Destro Yersul

Does that mean Fenric's off to a good start?

5, 5, 6
Fenric

Well... I get to put in three...make that four

I have six left.

4, 3, 2
Artemis

Yes, and so are you.

Ok I'll put in one. I've got nine left.

1d6=2, 1d6=6, 1d6=4

Make that eight left, and it seems that there's always 3 coins put in the pot, so we can just count up the rolls to get the jackpot amount.
Destro Yersul

five of mine go in as well then. Down to five

3, 2, 6
Fenric

Ok... I rolled a 3, then Artemis rolled a 6, then destro rolled a 3 and a six... that's four. I had six, so two left.

Rolling...

1d6=5, 1d6=4, 1d6=1

None are mine this time, so I don't have to worry about it.
Artemis

ok that's two more for me and to roll..

6, 4, 5

so three in, leaving me with five.
Destro Yersul

Well, that pair of fives improves my chances somewhat.

2, 2, 3

I'm down to one, but I think Fenric wins.
Fenric

Yep, I'm out.
Artemis

And you win 8x3= 24 coins! Wow, better than doubled money.
Fenric

Wow. That's nifty.
Destro Yersul

Yay for money! Another round? Or should we play something different?
Artemis

Good game for the Casino? And I guess we should try a new game. See anything you like?
Destro Yersul

Definitely. It's simple and fast. Want to try Dragon Slayer?
Artemis

OK, We all start by rolling once.

1d6=3
Fenric

I have to be going, unfortunately (that's why I abandoned the cemetary, too. )
Destro Yersul

I rolled a five. It's very five related.

Behold the five!
Artemis

Ah, ok Cya Fenric, thanks for the help.

Ok so now you get to roll three dice.
Destro Yersul

This roll makes me happy. One chip!

5, 5, 4
Artemis

ok, Let me try.
1d6=5, 1d6=4, 1d6=3

*sigh* one...
Destro Yersul

I think you have to keep rolling.
Artemis

It says in turn... Oh look you're right.

Here we go again.

1d6=3, 1d6=1, 1d6=5 That's two

1d6=5, 1d6=1, 1d6=5 Whoo! 3

So that's 1 for you and 3 for me.
Destro Yersul

Ok. So I've got to make four more rolls (or series of rolls) then?

1, 5, 2
3, 1, 2
3, 1, 1

Not so good that time. Another three chips puts me at four.
Artemis

Wait....I think we skipped a step.

There's a number of rounds, when each player throws. you were supposed to set the number, with your first 3d6 roll's total. Which was 14. We have 14 rounds to slay the Dragon. and this will be the 4th.

1d6=3, 1d6=6, 1d6=1 1

1d6=2, 1d6=6, 1d6=5 2

1d6=5, 1d6=1, 1d6=4 3

1d6=6, 1d6=3, 1d6=6 4

Plus my earlier three puts me at 7
Destro Yersul

Oh right, we did miss that. Should probably make a note or something...

Another one shot wonder for me:
1, 3, 1
Artemis

Or maybe set a standard number, like 10 or 20 or something? Round six

1d6=6, 1d6=5, 1d6=3

1d6=6, 1d6=3, 1d6=3

that's 2 + 7 gives me 9
Destro Yersul

Ten sounds good. Not too short, not too long.

Also, holy crap at Invisible castle:

6, 2, 2

I'm up to six chips.
Artemis

Did you bribe the webmaster or something?

Round 8, should we go for 10 or 14?

1d6=4, 1d6=3, 1d6=2 1

1d6=1, 1d6=6, 1d6=4 2

1d6=5, 1d6=5, 1d6=6 3

12 for me
Destro Yersul

No. Nope. Absolutely not. *Hides giant "Bag o' Bribes"*

6, 3, 1
1, 3, 2
4, 1, 2
6, 4, 3
6, 2, 4
6, 2, 5
6, 4, 3
4, 5, 2
4, 2, 2

I think that makes up for it. Let's see, I'm up to... 15?

And let's play ten.
Artemis

Last round then.

1d6=3, 1d6=1, 1d6=5 1

1d6=2, 1d6=5, 1d6=5 2

That's 14! I win! Barely. Laughing
Destro Yersul

Curse you, last round of rolling! For thou hast cemented my fate.
Artemis

Heh, now the question is how much would I have won?

looks like it doesn't say.... Hmm how about what everyone collected?
Destro Yersul

That one is a "stakes" game. There are a lot of those, which only make sense when the players have money.

Speaking of which, are we even concerned with money here? This is town, and everyone has large generic wads of cash as their standard daily income.
Artemis

I was going to have chips, and possibly keep track of how much gold is kept in the vault. So aside from providing entertainment, it could be part of a plot too. Have people try and break in and get the money.
Destro Yersul

Cool. There are a lot of opportunities there. Though the vault would have to be properly warded, of course.
Artemis

Yep, although getting in the first time might be a bit easy. and cheating in the Casino will be easy too, until you get caught and security gets updated.
Destro Yersul

Use magical security cameras, and have a lazy security guard watch them all day. It can't fail!
Artemis

Precisely! I even have a security room mapped out. I got bored and drew out a cruddy paint map. The Casino has a lounge too, I'm thinking of haveing screens playing sports games that people can bet on too. Maybe baseball? We do have a stadium now.
Destro Yersul

What about Brockian Ultra-Cricket? Very Happy
Artemis

Yes! Hey....that could be a plot unto itself. I've got to read those books again.
Destro Yersul

Do it! You know you want to.

I think they even have the rules for Brockian Ultra-Cricket in one of the chapters.
Artemis

If its anything like real cricket it probably makes no sense. Not that I have a great understanding of the game, we don't play it here in the US.
Destro Yersul

I think that's actually the point. We don't play cricket in Canada either, and I expect Mr. Adams was poking fun at the general complicatedness that is the English game.
Artemis

Probably, it does seem really really complicated, although I usually find most sports complicated.
helgraf

The ... ahem ... rules that are posted aren't helpful. At all.
