50 pages limit?

I was looking for why, and the only explanation I found was that it was historic back to GitP. I'm curious if there is actually a reason to continue it that is a bit more concrete.

My main thought is: If we don't need a new thread, why push more threads off of page 1?

My second thought is one of pure curiosity as to whether or not it does matter.

I'm pretty sure that even here, there's a server limitation - on most forums, once a thread goes past a certain number of posts, the server starts to go strange...

I don't know if there is a technical problem with it. It is possible that the server will act up if threads get too long, but it's also possible it will do just fine. I'm not exactly sure what the difference is from the server's perspective, actually, it's the same amount of data - actually a little more with more threads because of extra first posts. But if GitP made this rule because of the server, perhaps there is a difference.

Personally I just like the tradition. Not for any particularly concrete reasons, I just think it's nice. And maybe a little easier to find things when it's divided into smaller, numbered bits? I don't know.

I prefer to keep the existing system as well.
