Anyone notice that in Town, certain people close themselves off to certain groups of players by having their characters ignore everything around them that happens by players outside of said group? I find this attitude rude and insulting to the rest of the community.

I haven't seen too much of that. Most often they ignore an annoying character of mine ((Sin deserves it, though with his Holier than Thou attitude)), but mostly I think that people have been pretty good, with the exception of people ignoring battles because they need to do something before deadtiming, and don't want to be held back. Other times, when a thread becomes saturated, people don't have the time to read through every irrelevant post to get to a response, so they flag out the name of the player they've been conversing or acting with. In such a case, I know I'm guilty of at least one or twice, they skim over a post that is actually relevant. Don't take it personally, just try again or move on.

I'd hate to see people blacklisting, and I rather people discuss their complaints with me rather than get group of people to just out and out ignore me.

Well, I'm all for inclusiveness myself...but some people have stories they want to work on with their friends, or might feel that getting involved in others' plots or conversations are a distraction.   Also, in places where there can be several things happening at once (Trog's is a prime example) you just can't engage in everything going on sometimes.

I try to be inviting, and generally accept invitations unless I'm on a mission, but some people just aren't interested in doing much outside the plots and ideas they've generated for their characters themselves, and that's just fine too.   If they don't want to play with you, meh.   They probably weren't going to be much fun anyway.

Absolutly. It's like high school. Everyone wants to be with their friends. I'm more likely to roleplay with Sophistemon, or De rather than someone who I know less like Nevrmore. That's not saying nevrmore isn't a fantastic roleplayer, it's just that I don't know him well. It's annoying, but it's sort of a fact of the town.

AK, this is going to happen no matter what we try and do.  Someone is going to be excluded, and you should accept it with grace.  People don't always want Es and Drakens and Xands solving all of their problems, since that would basicly stagnate the Town.

Well, in that case, one should create a variety of characters of different makes and scales. Comparing Rex and Moxie is like comparing uh... Apples to Turquoise. Now what I'm saying is that I would hate to have people look upon Moxie badly because Rex sucks or vice versa. But even moreso, people should be more open to include everyone in their games.

Lastly, Rai, I don't know what high school you went to, but by the end of my sentence there, I could connect the dots between everyone in my class, and know almost everyone therein, and have at least talked or listened to them by the end.

Well, I know almost everyone here. It doesn't mean that I'd feel comfortable jumping into a plot with them. It's just sort of a fact, you know? Obviously, there's nothing stopping me from jumping into a plot with someone I don't know, and I doubt they'd look at me and say "Get lost", but I'd probably feel a bit like I was intruding. Maybe it's just me. I know people like Vael and yourself can play with just about anyone, but I can't. Each new character you make expands your friend base. I wasn't good friends with Bushranger, and I didn't even know De before I made Axl, but now I am. I'd feel comfortable having Ekrath or Alzair approach any of their characters now. It's all about your comfort zone really. If you can be great friends with everyone, good for you. If you like your small group of people, no one should force you to expand, but you also can't force anyone to stay away.

My two coppers.

It's been said a couple of times by now, but it's all a matter of your style, and who else syncs up with it.  I'm not much into the epic quests, as my characters are generally the average joes of Town (Or as average as it gets around here.)  So, I tend to hang around those whose characters tend to be scaled close to mine.  After all, it's no fun having someone who can fix your plot with a snap of their fingers.

Now if they try and fail miserably (Iames knows what I'm talking about,) THAT'S good stuff.

But yeah, you shouldn't expect everyone to accept you into their group with open arms.  Your styles just may not mesh well.  Of course, if they're straight-up snubbing you, that's a whole other matter, but I haven't really seen that recently.

I myself am guilty of this.
I really don't roleplay with anyone aside from Vael, Kyrian, SotS, AK, Moxie (on occasion), Teru, and Rebo.
I find this sad, as there are tons of you guys I'd like to play with.
Like Nevr or you, Rai-Rai =P

I think that is the best phrasing of what everyone's been saying that I've seen.  Good job, Kenyon.

AK, I'd also like to point out a major case of a shrinking and broadening plot circle:  Mine.

When I first joined the Town on GitP, so did nightwing.  About that time, Kyrian, Soph, Vael, Debunny, you name it, moved completely over here.  Which left me with one real option:  nightwing.  A while later, Art and LV showed up, as well as J Muller, Os, TR, Draken, and blackout.  I expanded my plot circle to include them.  About this time, I realized that nightwing had more than one character.  In fact, he had over 20, including the original Baron Law, in the infamous godmod armor (nightwing called it that himself).  After this, I started to exclude nightwing.  Now that he's back down to a reasonable number of reasonably (for the town) powered characters, I'm a lot more willing to include him in a plot.

I can understand if people would rather RP with people they know better, it's natural, and completely acceptable.

You just want to keep it away from the point where it goes from preference of RPing to direct exclusion. Which I haven't really seen to be a problem, in my admittedly small experience...

As has been pointed out, it's not so much exclusion, as inclusion: you tend to RP more with people you're slipped your comfort zone around.

For instance, in my case I'd gladly have my characters interact with any of De's, Vael's, Hawkeye's, McBish's, Raist's, Kantur's or Kyrian's characters. Might poke them a little out of their normal way to do so, even. And there's a number of other folk who only have one (or one major) character (such as, say, Magtok Razz ), or have a few of a group of characters, who I'd happily have mine interact with, and a few more who I would but it seems we rarely cross paths on the boards...

There's nobody whom I would exclude on an OOC basis. Now, there are some times that my eyes start to cross at spelling, and there are a few characters whom my characters would prefer to avoid IC, but deliberate snubbing? Nope.

You know, Kyrian and I were just talking about this earlier.  Because of my rather rigid posting schedule, I find myself interacting (mostly) with a small group of people - Vael, BR, Raistlin, and Kyrian.  On occasion, Uber and Hawkeye, and recently, nightwing and Moxie.  Now, ATM, there is NO one I would NOT RP with, just some I haven't because of scheduling issues.  I post on weekdays, so that excludes me from a bulk of players.  But I don't mind a bit, because I enjoy the friends that I have on here, the people I do get a chance to meet, and my characters.  (Well, except for Trixie - I may still have to kill her.)
